Kangan-class Ship
The ''Kangan'' () is a class of auxiliary water tanker (AWT) operated by the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. The class includes two pairs of ships built by the Mazagon Dock during 1978–1979 and 1991–1992. Ships in the class Known ships in commission the class are: According to the ''Jane's Fighting Ships'', it is unknown whether the second pair including ''Shahid Marjani'' and ''Amir'' are in naval service and the source comments that the two may be in civilian use. Islamic Republic Of Iran Navy
The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN; ), also referred as the Iranian Navy (abbreviated NEDAJA; ), is the naval warfare service branch of Iran's regular military, the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, Islamic Republic of Iran Army (''Artesh''). It is one of Iran's two maritime military branches, alongside the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). NEDAJA is charged with forming Iran's first line of defense in the Gulf of Oman, Persian Gulf and abroad. A tanker (or tank ship or tankship) is a ship designed to transport or store liquids or gases in Bulk liquids, bulk. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) (IAST: ''Majhagānv Dawk Shipbuilders Limiṭeḍ''), formerly called Mazagon Dock Limited, is a company with shipyards situated in Mazagaon, Mumbai. Jane's Fighting Ships
''Janes Fighting Ships'' is an annual reference book of each country's warship, navy and coast guard, along with their weapons and aircraft. Included are ship names, construction data, size, speed, range, complement, engineering, armament, and sensors. This is generally followed by relevant commentary. Originally, it was illustrated with ink sketches done by founder, Fred T. Jane (1865–1916). It is his surname "Jane" that makes this title distinctive. Jane was a struggling commercial artist and journalist with an interest in naval affairs. In the 1880s he set out to record all of the armored warships serving in the world's navies. His plan was to publish this record with the title ''Ironclads of the World''. Initially ''Brassey's Naval Annual'' and various Royal Navy periodicals were the source of inspiration for his drawings. Pennant Number
In the Royal Navy and other navies of Europe and the Commonwealth of Nations, ships are identified by pennant number (an internationalisation of ''pendant number'', which it was called before 1948). Historically, naval ships flew a flag that identified a flotilla or type of vessel. For example, the Royal Navy used a red burgee for torpedo boats and a pennant with an H for torpedo boat destroyers. Adding a number to the type-identifying flag uniquely identified each ship. In the current system, a letter prefix, called a ''flag superior'', identifies the type of ship, and numerical suffix, called a flag inferior, uniquely identifies an individual ship. Bandar Siraf
Bandar Siraf () is a city in, and the capital of, Siraf District in Kangan County, Bushehr province, Iran. As the village of Taheri, it was the capital of Taheri Rural District until its capital was transferred to the village of Parak. According to legend, Siraf was an ancient Sassanid port, destroyed around 970 CE, which was located on the north shore of the Persian Gulf in what is now the Iranian province of Bushehr. Its ruins are approximately 220 km east of Bushire, 30 km east from Kangan city, and 380 km west of Bandar Abbas. Siraf controlled three ports: Bandar-e-Taheri, Bandar-e-Kangan and Bandar-e-Dayer. The Persian Gulf was used as a shipping route between the Arabian Peninsula and India over the Arabian Sea.
