Kalukhali–Gobra Line
The Kalukhali–Gobra line is a 137km-long broad gauge railway. It was constructed under the Ministry of Railways (Bangladesh), Ministry of Railways, Government of Bangladesh. The line connects Rajbari District to Gopalganj District, Bangladesh, Gopalganj District. It is operated by West Zone (Bangladesh Railway), West Zone and according to the engineering department of Bangladesh Railway, it has been identified as a high-grade railway line. Poradah–Goalundo Ghat line is a broad-gauge railway of Bangladesh Railway. The line is maintained and operated by West Zone. History On 29 September 1862, the Eastern Bengal Railway inaugurated the railway line from Calcutta to Ranaghat. This line was extended and on 15 November 1862 and a 53.11 km broad gauge (1,676 mm) railway section was opened from Darshana to Jagati. Kushtia was a marginal station at that time, but in 1867, due to the erosion of the Padma, it was shifted to the banks of the Gorai river and the original Kushtia station was abandoned in the following year. Goalundo Ghat
Goalundo Ghat (also spelled Goalanda and Goalondo; bn, গোয়ালন্দঘাট) is a small town and pourasabha in Goalandaghat Upazila, Rajbari District, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh, South Asia. There are two railway stops one at Goalundo Ghat and one at Goalundo Bazar. The town has an area of 4.86 km2 and a population of 22,000 inhabitants (2001 estimate). Historical significance The Eastern Bengal Railway opened the line from Kolkata to Goalundo, on the southern bank of the Padma in 1871.
