Kahara is a village and ''tehsil'' in the Doda district of the Jammu division of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated between mountainous cliffs from Thathri on the Thathri-Gandoh road. Geography Kahara is located on the bank of the river Kalgoni and is a hilly area in the Doda district, with several villages including Joura Kalan, Joura, Jammu and Kashmir">Joura Khurd, Budhi, Kunthal, Shamdlian, Jia Halaran, Halaran, Kencha, Tanta, Malanoo and Batogra. A District Development Council (abbreviated as DDC) is a form of elected local government in Jammu and Kashmir facilitated by the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989 and created under Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rule, 1996 of the constitution of India. They are primarily aimed at electing the members from the rural and urban areas for the District Planning Committee and the councils themselves with fourteen members from each district for speedy development and economic upliftment. Thathri–Gandoh National Highway (also Thathri–Gandoh Road) is a road that connects Thathri to Gandoh, located in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The road serves as a lifeline for the people living in the Bhalessa region as it provides access to various link roads leading to rural and far-flung areas. Thathri is a town and a notified area committee in Doda district in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the sub division and tehsil headquarter of Thathri. Thathri valley is located in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains, about 85 km from Batote. Mehraj Malik (born in 1988) is an Indian politician and social worker from Jammu and Kashmir. He was elected as a member of legislative assembly (MLA) for the Doda Assembly constituency in October 2024. He was the Aam Aadmi Party's first and only winning MLA candidate in J&K as of 2024.
