KTKN (930 AM broadcasting, AM) is an American commercial radio station airing talk radio, talk and hot adult contemporary music programming in Ketchikan, Alaska. It is owned and operated by Alaska Broadcast Communications. The studios are at 526 Stedman Street in Ketchikan, with sister station KGTW and next door from its other sister station KFMJ. KTKN programming is also heard on 97.5 FM from translator K248AI; the station holds a permit for a second translator facility. History The current KTKN license, which dates to 1942, is the successor of the first station to operate in Ketchikan. KGBU KGBU was granted its first license to operate on July 29, 1926. It was owned by Roy Thornton, with the licensee soon changed to the Alaska Radio Service Company. As part of General Order 40 in 1928, it relocated from 610 to 900 kilohertz. Ketchikan ( ; ) is a city in and the borough seat of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough on Revillagigedo Island of Alaska. It is the state's southeasternmost major settlement. Downtown Ketchikan is a National Historic Landmark District. KATV ("Ketchikan Alaska Television") was a cable television service in Ketchikan, Alaska Territory, United States. It was established in November 1953 (six years before statehood) and was the first television service of any kind in Alaska. History R. D. "Chuck" Jensen and Wally Christiansen started KATV in 1953 with the goal of bringing television to Ketchikan, then a town of about 5,000 people.
