KBO League Golden Glove Award
The KBO League Golden Glove Award is an award given out annually by the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) to the best overall player at each position in the KBO League. It is also commonly known as the KBO Golden Gloves. The award was established in KBO League's inaugural year in 1982. Selection format Each year, one award is given to the best player at each position, as voted by baseball writers, analysts and broadcasters. (In the KBO's first year, 1982, the award was given exclusively for defensive prowess, similar to the MLB Gold Glove Award). All outfielders are grouped for three outfielder awards and designated hitters have been included since 1984. League leaders in major offensive and pitching categories earn automatic nominations for the award. Korea Baseball Organization
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO; ) is the Sport governing body, governing body for the professional leagues of baseball in South Korea. The KBO was founded in 1981 and has governed two leagues: the KBO League () and KBO Futures League ( (Farm team, farm league) since 1982. It is one of two major baseball governing bodies; the other is the Korea Baseball Association (), which is the governing body for Amateur sports, amateur baseball competitions. The KBO is a member of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), and is responsible for the South Korea national baseball team, national baseball team for the World Baseball Classic and Asia Series. National team participation in other competitions is governed by the Korea Baseball Association. Pacific Dolphins
The Hyundai Unicorns () were a South Korean professional baseball team based in Suwon. They were a member of the KBO League. The Unicorns won the KBO championship four times (1998, 2000, 2003 and 2004). The Unicorns were dissolved after the 2007 season. Hyundai Unicorns' players and staff were signed in a takeover deal and became the Heroes Baseball Club. The Unicorns and the Heroes have no historical links, although the new team consisted mostly of former Unicorns players. Chang Jong-hoon
Chang Jong-hoon (born April 10, 1968) is a retired former infielder in the KBO League. He spent his entire 20-year career with Binggrae/Hanwha Eagles. He is currently a coach with the team. Chang was a two-time KBO MVP, and led the league in home runs and RBI three seasons in a row, from 1990 to 1992. He was the first player in the KBO League to reach 40 home runs in a season, the first to score 100 or more runs, and the first to drive in 100 or more runs. Chang was the KBO career Home Run King for ten years until being surpassed by Yang Joon-hyuk. Chang's 340 career home runs currently rank fourth on the KBO all-time list; his 1,145 RBI rank seventh. Binggrae Eagles
The Hanwha Eagles () are a South Korean professional baseball team based in Daejeon that competes in the KBO League. The Eagles' home ballpark is Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark. They have won the Korean Series once, in 1999, and the league pennant twice. As of 2024, the Eagles have played in the postseason 13 times, being the runner-up in the Korean Series five times. Han Dae-hwa
Han Dae-hwa (; born July 8, 1960, in Daejeon, South Korea) is a former South Korean third baseman and the former manager of the Hanwha Eagles in the Korea Baseball Organization. Han played 17 years in the KBO League, for the OB Bears, the Haitai Tigers, the LG Twins, and the Ssangbangwool Raiders. He was an eight-time KBO League Golden Glove Award-winner and a six-time Korean Series champion. Career Han attended Dongguk University. Han was part of the Gold Medal-winning South Korea national baseball team in the 1982 Amateur World Series (the predecessor to the Baseball World Cup), held in his home country. Sun Dong-yol (; or ; born January 10, 1963) is a South Korean retired baseball pitcher and former manager. He was a pitcher in the KBO League and Nippon Professional Baseball, and the former manager of the Samsung Lions and the Kia Tigers in the KBO. Sun is one of the most celebrated pitchers in the history of the KBO League.
