Jón Stefánsson (artist)
Jón Stefánsson (1881–1962) was Iceland's first modern landscape artists and one of the founders of modern art in Iceland. He was born in 1881 in Sauðárkrókur. As a student he first studied engineering in Copenhagen, before turning in 1903 to art. He studied at the ''Teknisk Selekb Skole'' and at Kristian Zahrtmann's school before meeting Jean Heiberg in Norway in 1908. Together with Henrik Sørensen and Gösta Sandels they went to Paris to study under Matisse. In 1919 Jón's work was exhibited in the Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling in the Den Frie Udstilling in Copenhagen. Jón Arnór Stefánsson
Jón Arnór Stefánsson (born 21 September 1982) is an Icelandic basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national team. One of Iceland's most successful athletes of the early 21st century, he was the Icelandic Sportsperson of the Year in 2014 and a 12-time Icelandic Male Basketball Player of the Year. A three-time Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year, he won the Icelandic championship five times and the FIBA Europe League once. He spent most of his career in Spain, Italy and Iceland, winning the Italian Basketball Cup in 2006 and the Icelandic Cup in 2017. High school career Jón Arnór attended Artesia High School in Lakewood, California from 1999 to 2000. His stay was cut short when allegations rose that he and teammate Jack Michael Martínez had been illegally recruited by coach Wayne Merino. Jón Kalman Stefánsson
Jón Kalman Stefánsson (born 17 December 1963) is an Icelandic author. Biography Jón Kalman was born in Reykjavík. He grew up there and in Keflavík. From 1975 to 1982, he lived in western Iceland, where he worked different jobs after finishing high school. From 1986 to 1991, he studied literature at the University of Iceland, but did not pass an important exam. During this time, Stefánsson taught courses at high schools and wrote articles for the Icelandic newspaper ''Morgunblaðið''. Between 1992 and 1995, he lived off various jobs in Copenhagen, Denmark. Afterwards he returned to Iceland and worked as a librarian for the Municipal Library in Mosfellsbær. Since then, he has been living as an independent author in Iceland. In 2017 his novel ''Fish Have No Feet'' was nominated for the Man Booker International Prize. He has been nominated for the Nordic Council's Literature Prize four times. Þorgils gjallandi (1 June 1851 – 23 June 1915) was an Icelandic author born in the hamlet of Skútustaðir by Mývatn, a lake in the Skútustaðahreppur rural municipality.
