Justine Wong-Orantes
Justine Wong-Orantes (born October 6, 1995) is an American volleyball player who plays as libero for the United States women's national volleyball team. She played college volleyball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, where she won an NCAA national championship. She began playing for U.S. national team in 2017. In 2021, she was one of twelve players who won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, the first-ever gold medal finish for the women's national team. Career Early life and high school Wong-Orantes is Chinese of descent on her mother's side and of Mexican descent on her father's side. Both of her parents, Winnie Wong and Robert Orantes, were volleyball players. Her father also coached the Mizuno Long Beach volleyball club. 2018 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League
The 2018 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League was the inaugural edition of the FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League, a new annual international women's volleyball tournament contested by 16 national teams that replaced the former World Grand Prix in the international calendar. The competition was held between May and July 2018, and the final round took place in the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre, Nanjing, China. Six-time World Grand Prix winners, United States won the inaugural edition, defeating Turkey in five sets on the final. Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup
The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup was an international volleyball competition contested by the senior men's and women's national teams of the members of ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The tournament was created in 1993 after radical changes made on the biggest tournaments organised by the FIVB. The main goal was not to have a single year without two high-profile world-level volleyball competitions, alongside the pre-existing men's and women's world championship, men's and women's world cup and the volleyball tournament at the Olympic Games which are all quadrennial and the annual men's and women's Nations League. The World Grand Champions Cup was therefore played quadrennially the year after the Olympic Games and is always hosted by the Japan Volleyball Association. The Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a continental cup organized by NORCECA with teams from all over America ( North-, South- and Central America, and the Caribbean), that served as a qualifier for the World Grand Prix. The 2019 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship was the 26th edition of the tournament, and was played from 8 October to 13 October 2019 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Dominican Republic defeated the United States by 3–2 to win the Continental Championship. Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic qualified for the NORCECA Olympic Qualifier, which will see the four teams compete for a spot in the 2020 Olympics. NORCECA Women's Volleyball Championship
The NORCECA Women's Volleyball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national volleyball teams of North America, Central America and the Caribbean, organized by the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation ( NORCECA).
