Justin Rogers (defensive Tackle)
Justin Rogers (born September 12, 2001) is an American professional football defensive tackle. He played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats and Auburn Tigers and was selected by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL draft. Early life In Rogers's freshman season, he was an immediate starter at right tackle. In his junior season, he was a starter at right tackle, and he notched 22 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and four forced fumbles as a linebacker. Coming out of high school, Rogers was rated as a four-star recruit. Rogers was also rated the top offensive guard and the top player in the state of Michigan. Rogers held scholarship offers from schools such as Kentucky, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and LSU. Rogers ultimately committed to play college football for the Kentucky Wildcats. A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that typically lines up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the Guard (American football), offensive guards; however, he may also line up opposite one of the offensive Tackle (gridiron football position), tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach.
