Charles Cleaves Cole
Charles Cleaves Cole (May 22, 1841 – March 17, 1905) was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia. Education and career Born in Hiram, Maine, Cole read law to enter the bar in 1866, and received a Bachelor of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1867. He was a private in the United States Army during the American Civil War, serving in the 17th Maine Infantry, from 1862 to 1865. He was in private practice in Portland, Maine from 1866 to 1867, in West Union, West Virginia from 1868 to 1870, and in Parkersburg, West Virginia from 1870 to 1874. He was prosecuting attorney of Doddridge County, West Virginia from 1869 to 1870, and was city solicitor of Parkersburg from 1874 to 1876, thereafter resuming his private practice in Parkersburg until 1878, and in Washington, D.C. from 1878 to 1891. Chester C
Chester is a cathedral city in Cheshire, England, on the River Dee, Wales, River Dee, close to the England–Wales border. John Cole (judge)
John Cole (17151777) was a lawyer who became the 12th Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, serving from 1764 to 1765. Following his short tenure as Chief Justice, he became a Providence legislator, and Speaker of the Rhode Island House of Deputies. In this role he was on a committee to draft instructions to Providence citizens in regards to protesting the egregious Stamp Act passed by the British parliament to tax the American colonists. During the lead up to the American Revolutionary War Cole was privy to the plan and execution of the burning of the British revenue schooner ''Gaspee'' that ran aground near Pawtuxet, Rhode Island. He was deeply complicit with Stephen Hopkins and other leading Providence citizens in withholding evidence from the British commission of inquiry that was established to find the instigators of the Gaspee Affair. Orsamus Cole
Orsamus R. Cole (August 23, 1819May 5, 1903) was an American lawyer and judge. He served as the 6th Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and, until 2013, was the longest-serving justice in the Court's history, with nearly 37 years on the high court. He also represented Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives for the 31st Congress (1849–1850). His name is frequently misspelled as Orasmus. Early life and career Orsamus Cole was born in Cazenovia, New York, the son of Hymeneus Cole and Sarah Salisbury. Both of his grandfathers had served in the American Revolutionary War. Cole attended the common schools and graduated from Union College, Schenectady, New York, in 1843. He studied law, and, in 1845, he was admitted to the New York bar. Ralph Cole (Ohio Representative)
Ralph Dayton Cole Jr. (June 12, 1914 – September 2, 1999) was a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives. A graduate of Williams College and Case Western Reserve University, he was originally elected to an at-large district in 1954 to represent Hancock County, Ohio, and he would go on to serve seven more terms in the House. Throughout his tenure in the legislature, Cole served on various committees in leadership positions, most notably as chairman of the State and Government Committee. In 1968, Cole was appointed to a judicial seat for the Ohio District Courts of Appeals, and resigned prior to the end of his term. In 1981, Judge Cole also served as chief justice of the Ohio District Courts of Appeals, and also served on the Ohio Supreme Court when a substitute was needed.
