Jura Ridgeway
The Jura ridgeway is a long-distance hiking trail along the Jura mountain range in Switzerland. It starts in Dielsdorf near Zürich, and follows the crest of the mountain ridge towards the southwest, to finish near Nyon by Lake Geneva. The total distance covered is around 310 km, and can be completed in around 17 or 18 days walking. The altitude ranges from 320m to 1680m. In German (on the eastern portion of the route), the path is known as the ''Jura Höhenweg'' (or Jura high path). More than half the route is in French-speaking areas, where it is known as the ''Chemin des Crêtes du Jura'' (Jura ridge way). It is marked with many official signposts using a white number "5". Dielsdorf is a municipality, seat of the district of Dielsdorf in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. History Dielsdorf is first mentioned in 861 as ''Theolvesthoruf''. The name means ''estate or farm of Theolf'' which is supposed to have been the original owner of these lands. Geography Dielsdorf has an area of . Of this area, 37% is used for agricultural purposes, while 30.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 31% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (1.9%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). It is located some 25 kilometers north east of Geneva's city centre, and since the 1970s it has become part of the Geneva metropolitan area. European Walking Route E4
The E4 European long distance path or E4 path is one of the European long-distance paths. Starting at Tarifa Andalusia, located at the southernmost end of the Iberian Peninsula, across the Strait of Gibraltar facing Morocco, it continues through Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece to end in Cyprus. It also visits the Greek island of Crete. It is more than long, but the route through Romania and part of Bulgaria is not yet completely defined. An alternative route through Serbia, instead of Romania, has been defined.
