North Down is a United Kingdom constituencies, parliamentary constituency in the United Kingdom House of Commons. The current MP is Alex Easton, elected at the 2024 United Kingdom general election. Stephen Farry was elected to the position in the 2019 United Kingdom general election, 2019 general election, replacing the incumbent Sylvia Hermon. Hermon had held the position since being elected to it in the 2001 United Kingdom general election, 2001 general election, but chose not to contest in 2019. Sir Henry Wilson, 1st Baronet
Field Marshal Sir Henry Hughes Wilson, 1st Baronet, (5 May 1864 – 22 June 1922) was one of the most senior British Army staff officers of the First World War and was briefly an Irish unionist politician. Wilson served as Commandant of the Staff College, Camberley, and then as Director of Military Operations at the War Office, playing a vital role in drawing up plans to deploy an Expeditionary Force to France in the event of war. He acquired a reputation as a political intriguer for his role in agitating for the introduction of conscription and the Curragh incident of 1914. As Sub Chief of Staff to the British Expeditionary Force (BEF), Wilson was Sir John French's most important advisor during the 1914 campaign, but his poor relations with Douglas Haig and William Robertson saw him sidelined from top decision-making in the middle years of the war. John Simms (clergyman)
John Morrow Simms (23 November 1854 – 29 April 1934) was a Presbyterian minister and unionist politician in Northern Ireland. Biography Born in Newtownards, Simms studied at the Belfast Academy, the Coleraine Academical Institution, Queen's University, Belfast, the University of Edinburgh and Leipzig University. In 1882, he was ordained as a Presbyterian Church in Ireland clergyman, and became a British Army chaplain in 1887. He was elected for the Ulster Unionist Party at the July 1922 North Down by-election, and when the seat was abolished later in the year, won a seat in Down, serving until the 1931 UK general election. From 1914 to 1920, he was Principal Chaplain to the Forces, and held rank relative to major-general.
