Julio Sadorra
Julio Catalino Sadorra (born September 14, 1986) is a Filipino chess grandmaster. He competed in the FIDE World Cup in 2017 where he was seeded 101 and where he lost to the 28th-seeded Super GM Maxim Matlakov, 0.5-1.5. Sadorra has represented the Philippines at the Chess Olympiad since 2014. He tied for first place in the U.S. Open Chess Championship in 2013. Personal In 2009, Sadorra moved to the United States to pursue an education. He attended the University of Texas at Dallas on a chess scholarship, where he was a team member that went to the Final Four twice. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2013, and received the title of Grandmaster while pursuing his studies. John Paul Gomez
John Paul Gomez (born May 23, 1986) is a Filipino chess player. He was awarded the title of International Master (IM) in 2007 and International Grandmaster (GM) in 2009. He is a three-time Filipino national junior champion and has also won the Filipino Chess Championship. Early life and education Gomez is from Biñan, Laguna Province in the Philippines. He began playing chess when he was three years old and began beating older players when he was five. After becoming bored with chess, he started playing tennis, even becoming a top player in the ten-and-under age category; a fractured hand suffered while playing tennis, however, led him to switch back to chess. Gomez graduated from De La Salle University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Li Chao (; born 21 April 1989 in Taiyuan, Shanxi) is a Chinese chess Grandmaster and Asian champion in 2013. In 2007, he became China's 23rd Grandmaster at the age of 18. He has been a second/assistant for fellow Chinese chess Grandmaster Wang Yue on several occasions; the two are good friends having known each other since they were children. Wesley Barbossa So (born October 9, 1993) is a Filipino and American chess grandmaster, a three-time U.S. Chess Champion, and the first World Fischer Random Chess Champion. He is also a three-time Philippine Chess Champion. On the March 2017 FIDE rating list, he was ranked number two in the world and had an Elo rating of 2822, making him the fifth-highest-rated player in history. In 2019, So said his favorite form of chess is chess960 (also known as Fischer random chess).
