''Jules and Greg's Wild Swim'' is a Scottish television series about wild swimming for broadcast on BBC Two, BBC Scotland and its streaming service BBC iPlayer, featuring couple Julie Wilson Nimmo and Greg Hemphill. ''Jules and Greg's Wild Swim'' was produced by Solus Productions and Jim Webster. Plot The series follows ''Balamory'' star Julie Wilson Nimmo and ''Still Game'' co-creator and star Greg Hemphill as they take the plunge at Scotland's breathtaking and beautiful wild swimming spots, meeting swimmers who share their inspirational stories along the way. Open water swimming is a swimming discipline which takes place in outdoor bodies of water such as open oceans, lakes, and rivers. Competitive open water swimming is governed by the International Swimming Federation, World Aquatics (formerly known as FINA), except when it is part of multi-sport events, which are governed by the World Triathlon. In the first edition of the modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, the swimming competition was held in open water. In 2000, the Olympic Games first included a triathlon with a 1500 m swim leg, and in 2008, a 10 km open water swim. The FINA World Aquatics Championships has featured open water swimming events since 1992. The FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships was held from 2000 to 2010. Tobermory, Mull
Tobermory (; ) is the capital of, and until 1973 the only burgh on, the Isle of Mull in the Scottish Inner Hebrides. It is located on the east coast of Mishnish, the most northerly part of the island, near the northern entrance of the Sound of Mull. The town was founded as a fishing port in 1788; its layout was based on the designs of Dumfriesshire engineer Thomas Telford. As of 2022 its population was 1,045. It is notable as the location for the 2002–05 children's programme ''Balamory'' by the BBC. Etymology The name ''Tobermory'' is derived from the Scottish Gaelic, Gaelic ', meaning "Mary's well". ''Still Game'' is a Scotland, Scottish sitcom produced by Effingee Productions, The Comedy Unit and BBC Scotland. It was created by Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, who played the lead characters, Jack Jarvis (Still Game character), Jack Jarvis, Esq and Victor McDade, two Glasgow, Glaswegian pensioners. The characters first appeared in the pair's previous TV sketch show ''Chewin' the Fat'', which aired in Scotland from January 1999 until December 2005. ''Balamory'' is a Scottish live-action children's programme on CBeebies for pre-school children, about a fictional small island community off the west coast of Scotland, named ''Balamory''. Four series were produced from 2002 to 2005 by BBC Scotland, with 253 episodes made (including a DVD-exclusive Christmas episode). The programme was created by Brian Jameson. To celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, 25 episodes from Series 4 were added to BBC iPlayer on 30 August 2022. On 17 September 2024, it was announced that the show will return for two new series in 2026 on CBeebies including bringing back old characters from the past.
