Joyride The Musical
''Joyride the Musical'' is a jukebox musical based on the songs by Swedish pop duo Roxette and the novel ''Got You Back'' by Jane Fallon. It premiered in 2024 at Malmö Opera. Plot Stylist Stephanie, her boyfriend Joe and their teenage daughter Stella live in London. Joe, a veterinarian, works part time in the small town of Lincoln. One day Stephanie discovers Joe is living a double life and has another girlfriend, Katie. Katie knows about Joe's family, but believes Joe and Stephanie separated a year ago. When Stephanie and Katie find out Joe has lied to both of them, they plot a revenge but things don't turn out as they planned. Jane Elizabeth Mary Fallon (born 9 December 1960) is an English author and television producer. Early life and education Born as the youngest of five children in Harrow, northwest London, Fallon's family moved to Buckinghamshire when she was a child, and she grew up in a flat above her parents' newsagent's shop. She was educated at St Bernard's Convent School in Slough, Berkshire, and University College London, where she studied history, graduating with a bachelor of arts in 1982. Swedish pop rock duo Roxette has released ten studio albums (including six Swedish number ones), one live album, thirteen compilation albums, one remix album, eleven video albums, three box sets, fifty-six singles (including three Swedish and four US number ones) and twenty promotional singles, as well as fifty-two music videos. The duo, which consisted of Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson, are the second most commercially successful Swedish act of all time, after ABBA. Malmö Opera () is an opera house in Malmö, Sweden. An opera company of the same name presents seasons of opera in this house. A jukebox musical is a stage musical or musical film in which a majority of the songs are well-known, pre-existing popular music songs, rather than original music composed for the musical. Some jukebox musicals use a wide variety of songs, while others confine themselves to songs performed by one singer or band, or written by one songwriter. In such cases, the plot is often a biography of the artist or artists. In other jukebox musicals, the plot is purely fictional. For musicals about a musician or musical act, some of the songs can be diegetic, meaning that they are performed within the world of the play or film. Roxette
Roxette is a Swedish pop rock duo originally consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, both of whom were already established musicians in Sweden prior to the band's formation. Fredriksson had released a number of successful solo albums, while Gessle had been the lead singer and songwriter of Gyllene Tider, a band which had three number one albums in Sweden. Acting on the advice of Rolf Nygren, the Chief executive officer, CEO of their mutual record label EMI, Fredriksson and Gessle collaborated to record "Neverending Love", the first single from Roxette's 1986 debut album ''Pearls of Passion'', which were both hits in Sweden. Per Gessle
Per Håkan Gessle (; born 12 January 1959) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the male half and primary songwriter of the pop rock duo Roxette, which he formed with Marie Fredriksson in 1986 and which was disbanded after her death in 2019. The duo achieved international success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their albums '' Look Sharp!'' (1988) and '' Joyride'' (1991), and topped the charts in the US four times, most notably with " It Must Have Been Love" which was featured in the film ''Pretty Woman''. Prior to the formation of Roxette, he had a successful career in his native Sweden as the frontman for Gyllene Tider. 4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures.
