''Joyas de dos siglos'' (English ''Gems of two centuries'') is the eleventh studio album by Mexican pop singer, Ana Gabriel. It was released on 1995. This material was produced by herself and Diana Veronica Paredes. This album is somewhat of a departure from Gabriel's usual style, but it is one of the artistic high points of her career. It was nominated for Regional Mexican Album of the Year at the Lo Nuestro Awards of 1996. Ana Gabriel
María Guadalupe Araujo Yong (born December 10, 1955), better known as Ana Gabriel, is a Mexican singer and songwriter from Guamuchil, Sinaloa, Mexico. She first sang on the stage at age six, singing "Regalo A Dios" by José Alfredo Jiménez. She moved to Tijuana, Baja California and studied accounting. At age 21, in 1977, she recorded her first song, titled "Compréndeme". During her long career, she has hits in three different genres of music: Latin pop and Mariachi. As of 2013, Gabriel had released twenty studio albums, three live albums, and fifteen compilation albums. Ranchera
Ranchera () or canción ranchera is a genre of traditional music of Mexico. It dates to before the years of the Mexican Revolution. Rancheras today are played in virtually all regional Mexican music styles. Drawing on rural traditional folk music, the ranchera developed as a symbol of a new national consciousness in reaction to the aristocratic tastes of the period. The classic "rancheras" songs usually talk about life in Mexico not only in rural areas, but also portray life in Mexico at the time of the bandits. Regional styles of Mexican music vary greatly from state to state. Norteño, banda, duranguense, Son mexicano and other Mexican country music genres are often known as regional Mexican music because each state produces different musical sounds and lyrics. Baja California : Baja California has a characteristic style derived from the huapango norteño, known as calabaceado. Calabaceado is a type dance that was created in the 1940s based in the fact that "norteño music" and typical cowboy cultures were being mixed and this dance shows the mixture of both styles. Valentín de la Sierra is a corrido (Mexican ballad) commemorating the death of Valentín Ávila Ramírez, a Cristero rebel who was killed in 1926 by the Mexican Army. The song is attributed to Chimano Noriega and Elidio Pacheco. It has been recorded by a variety of artists, including Vicente Fernández and Ana Gabriel.
