Jovan Deretić (other)
Jovan Deretić ( sr-Cyrl, Јован Деретић, ǒʋan derětit͡ɕ 22 January 1934 – 16 June 2002) was a Serbian historian and author of Serbian literary history. His work ''Istorija Srpske književnosti'' (1983) is the standard work in Serbian literary history. He is sometimes confused with pseudohistorian Jovan I. Deretić. Deretić was born in the village of Orahovac near Trebinje on 22 January 1934. He completed gymnasium high school in Trebinje and Vrbas and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade in 1958. Socialist Autonomous Province Of Vojvodina
The Socialist Autonomous Province of Vojvodina was one of two autonomous provinces within the Socialist Republic of Serbia, in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The province is the direct predecessor to the modern-day Serbian Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The province was formally created in 1945 in the aftermath of the World War II in Yugoslavia, as the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. In 1968, it was granted a higher level of political autonomy, and the adjective ''Socialist'' was added to its official name. In 1990, after the constitutional reform influenced by what is known as the anti-bureaucratic revolution, its autonomy was reduced to the pre-1968 level, and the term ''Socialist'' was dropped from its name. ''The Mountain Wreath'' () is a poem and a play written by Prince-Bishop and poet Petar II Petrović-Njegoš. Njegoš wrote ''The Mountain Wreath'' during 1846 in Cetinje and published it the following year after the printing in an Armenian monastery in Vienna. It is a modern epic written in verse as a play, thus combining three of the major modes of literary expression. It is considered a masterpiece of Serbian and Montenegrin literature. Vrbas, Serbia
Vrbas ( sr-Cyrl, Врбас) is a town and municipality located in the South Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. As of 2022, the town has a population of 20,892, while the municipality has 36,601 inhabitants. Name Its name stems from the word for 'willow' in Serbian language, Serbian.
