Alton Byrd
Joseph Alton Byrd (born November 3, 1957) is an American-British former professional basketball player who is the former chief executive officer of Chattanooga FC of the MLS Next Pro. He grew up in the San Francisco area, where he was a high school basketball star. He continued to be a basketball star at Columbia University, where he was one of the best point guards in the country in spite of his small stature. His height was usually officially listed as . He holds the school records for career assists (526) and assists in a single season (210). After receiving his bachelor's degree from Columbia College in 1979, he attended the Boston Celtics rookie camp, but, suffering with a foot injury, he did not get a contract and joined Crystal Palace of the British Basketball League. Joe Byrd (Cherokee Nation Principal Chief)
Joe Byrd (born 1954) was the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1995 to 1999. Byrd is bilingual, with an ability to communicate in both Cherokee and English. He ran for re-election in 1999, but lost to Chad "Corntassel" Smith. He ran again in 2003, but again lost to the incumbent Smith. Early life and career Byrd is from Nicut, Oklahoma, and Belfonte, Oklahoma. He served on the Cherokee Nation tribal council from 1987 to 1995. Joe Byrd was an American vaudeville comedian. He was from Jacksonville, Florida. The ''Indianapolis Freeman'' gave him plaudits in 1914 for his role with "Birdie" Byrd in the duo Byrd & Byrd. Joseph Byrd
Joseph Hunter Byrd Jr. (born December 19, 1937) is an American composer, musician and academic. After first becoming known as an experimental composer in New York City and Los Angeles in the early and mid-1960s, he became the leader of The United States of America, an innovative but short-lived band that integrated electronic sound and radical political ideas into rock music. In 1968 he recorded the album '' The American Metaphysical Circus'', credited to Joe Byrd and the Field Hippies. After working as a record producer, arranger, and soundtrack composer, he became a university teacher in music history and theory.
