Josef Müller (born 15 February 1887 in Solothurn; died 24 March 1977) was a Swiss art collector and curator. Biography Josef Müller was the son of Josef Müller senior, co-founder of the Solothurn company Müller & Schweizer, which specializes in the manufacture of diversified watch parts, and Anna Müller, née Haiber. After the premature death of his parents, he was raised by a governess, completed a mechanical engineering degree at the Polytechnic in Zurich, completed an internship in the US from 1912 to 1914 and joined his father's company. Eventually, Müller withdrew from the family business and turned to art. He became a student of Cuno Amiet and set up his own studio, initially in Geneva, and from 1922 in Paris. Müller - he began to collect modern, African, Asian, and ancient art - returned to Solothurn in 1942, where he worked as a curator at the Solothurn Art Museum from 1943 to 1967. Josef Müller (24 April 1880 – 21 September 1964), also known as Giuseppe Müller, was a Croatian entomologist. Life Josef Müller was born in 1880 in Zadar, at the time part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In school, he acquired solid knowledge of the classical languages, as well as of the scientific method. In 1898, he moved to Graz and studied natural history in the faculty of philosophy, concluding his studies in 1902. His dissertation was about the morphology of land planarians. In 1900, he won the University of Graz's "Unger Prize" for a work on the anatomy of the roots of exotic orchids. At this time he met many Austrian entomologists, such as Ludwig Ganglbauer. After his doctor examination, Müller moved to Trieste, where he started teaching natural history in Trieste High School and joined the Società Adriaca de Scienze Naturali. Josef Müller (27 March 1898 – 12 September 1979), also known as "Ochsensepp" ("Joe Ox"), was a German politician. He was a member of the resistance during World War II and afterwards one of the founders of the Christian Social Union (CSU). He was a devout Catholic and a leading figure in the Catholic resistance to Hitler. Early life Born in Steinwiesen, Kingdom of Bavaria, Müller was a lifelong Catholic. He entered the legal profession after serving as a mortar-man in the Royal Bavarian Army on the Western Front from 1916 to 1919. He was discharged as a senior sergeant. Müller became politically active during the Weimar Republic as a member of the Bavarian People's Party. Third Reich During the Nazi period he worked as an attorney defending many Nazi opponents. Josef Müller-Brockmann (9 May 1914 – 30 August 1996) was a Swiss graphic designer, author, and educator, he was a Principal at Muller-Brockmann & Co. design firm. He was a pioneer of the International Typographic Style. One of the main masters of Swiss design. Müller-Brockmann is recognized for his simple designs and his clean use of typography, shapes and colors which inspire many graphic designers in the 21st century. Joseph Muller (April 24, 1883—May 9, 1939Levy gives his birth year as 1877.) was a musician, artist, author, researcher, collector and world traveler. Known as a specialist in American music who worked for the New York Public Library, he amassed a personal collection of several thousand engravings and lithographs. Upon his death, his collection was donated to the Music Division of the New York Public Library. Biography Born in Germany, his desire for travel led him to become a sailor. He was a steward on private yachts (including one owned by J. P. Morgan) and visited many countries. Through his travels he became knowledgeable in music and a collector. Joseph Müller (19 August 1894 – 11 September 1944) was a German Catholic priest and critic of the Nazi regime. He was tried by the People's Court and executed at Brandenburg-Görden Prison. Life Müller was born in Salmünster, Hesse, the youngest of seven children of the local cantor and teacher Damien Müller and his wife Augusta. After obtaining his ''Abitur'' degree, he served as a volunteer in World War I, interrupted by a serious injury. After the war he resolved to become a preacher; two of his brothers also were ordained Catholic priests. He went on to study theology at the University of Münster and proceeded with his brother Oskar to the Diocese of Hildesheim. Both attended the Hildesheim seminary from 1921 and received the holy orders from Bishop Joseph Ernst in the following year. Joseph Müller began his ecclesiastical career as a chaplain in Duderstadt.
