Johnny Morgan (athlete)
Johnny Morgan (February 20, 1947 – May 17, 2023) was an American politician from Mississippi. He was a Mississippi State Senator from 1983 to 1991 serving as a member of the Democratic Party. He also served as a Lafayette County supervisor for eight years from 2003 to 2011 Family and education John Jordan "Johnny" Morgan was born on February 20, 1947, in Jackson to parents Eddie Mack and Beryl Jordan Morgan. He also had a brother named Chip Morgan. He graduated from Oxford Highschool in 1965 and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Business Administration. Career Morgan co-founded the Oxford based insurance company Morgan White Insurance in 1987. Clarion Ledger
''The Clarion Ledger'' is an American daily newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi. It is the second-oldest company in the state of Mississippi, and is one of the few newspapers in the nation that continues to circulate statewide. It is an operating division of Gannett River States Publishing Corporation, owned by Gannett. History The paper traces its roots to ''The Eastern Clarion,'' founded in Jasper County, Mississippi, in 1837. Later that year, it was sold and moved to Meridian, Mississippi. After the American Civil War, it was moved to Jackson, the capital, and merged with ''The Standard''. It soon became known as ''The Clarion''. In 1888, ''The Clarion'' merged with the ''State Ledger'' and became known as the ''Daily Clarion-Ledger''. Four employees who were displaced by the merger founded their own newspaper, ''The Jackson Evening Post'', in 1892.
