John Tiner
John Ivan Tiner CBE (born 25 February 1957) is a British manager in the world of finance and financial regulation. He was chief executive of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) from September 2003 to July 2007. He is now Chief Executive of Resolution Limited. Early life He was born in Guildford, Surrey. He was educated at Kingston University. Career For 25 years up to April 2001, he worked for Arthur Andersen (a firm of accountants and management consultants). He was a partner for 13 years, and in 1997 became head of the global financial services practice. He led a team that produced a report into the 1995 collapse of Barings Bank for the Bank of England's Board of Banking Supervision. This led him to be increasingly interested in financial regulation. Guildford
Guildford () is a town in west Surrey, around southwest of central London. As of the 2011 census, the town has a population of about 77,000 and is the seat of the wider Borough of Guildford, which had around inhabitants in .
