John Smith (1930s Gillingham Footballer)
John Smith was a professional footballer. He began his career with Exeter City in 1935 but failed to break into the club's first team and moved to non-league club Maidstone United. In May 1937 he joined another Kent-based club, Gillingham, and played 14 times in the Football League during the 1937–38 season. Maidstone is the largest town in Kent, England, of which it is the county town. Maidstone is historically important and lies east-south-east of London. The Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, it is the oldest football league in the world, and was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League.
