John Power (John Locke's Hurler)
John Fintan Power (born 17 February 1966) is an Irish former hurler. At club level, he played with John Locke's and was a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a forward. Career Power first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with John Locke's while simultaneously lining out with the Callan CBS team that lost consecutive All-Ireland finals in 1982 and 1983. Power enjoyed his first success at the adult club level in 1993 when John Locke's won the County Intermediate Championship, before claiming a second title in 1999. Power first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Kilkenny minor team that lost the All-Ireland minor final to Limerick in 1984, before losing the All-Ireland under-21 final to Tipperary the following year. John Locke's GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1889 and almost exclusively fields teams in hurling. The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Galway is one of the few dual counties in Ireland, competing in a similar level in both hurling and football codes. Prior to amalgamation of the hurling and football county boards into one county board, each of the two codes were previously run by their separate boards in Galway, which was unusual for a dual county. The 1991 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 105th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The championship began on 19 May 1991 and ended on 1 September 1991. Cork were the defending champions but were defeated by Tipperary in the Munster final replay. 2002 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2002 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship (known as the Guinness Hurling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 116th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The draws for the respective provincial championships took place on 27 October 2001. The championship ran from 27 April to 8 September 2002. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final. The All-Ireland final was played on 8 September 2002 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Kilkenny and Clare, in what was their fourth championship meeting overall but their first All-Ireland final meeting in 70 years. The GAA Interprovincial Championship () or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. The final, usually held on the first Sunday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Bob O'Keeffe Cup. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into five divisions, with seven teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
