John Moran (Mayor Of Limerick)
John Moran is an Irish politician who was elected as the Mayor of Limerick, following the 2024 Limerick mayoral election. He was inaugurated on 21 June 2024. Early life Born in Birmingham, Moran was raised on his family's farm in Patrickswell, County Limerick and later in Dooradoyle. He attended St Paul's national school in Dooradoyle, and CBS Sexton Street in Limerick. He obtained a law degree at University College Dublin, followed by a master's from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Career Following his master's degree, Moran passed the New York state bar and worked as a lawyer on Wall Street for three years. He returned to Ireland in 1990 to attain an Irish law qualification, before returning to the United States to run the New York office of McCann Fitzgerald. Mayor Of Limerick
The office of Mayor of the City and County of Limerick is currently the title used by the chairperson of Limerick City and County Council. Prior to the establishment of the council, the Mayor of Limerick was the chairperson of Limerick City Council. The office was originally established in 1195 and reinforced by a charter issued in 1197. Election to the office The Mayor is elected to office annually by councillors of Limerick City and County Council from amongst its members. There is currently no popular vote, but in May 2019 a plebiscite was held during the local elections which voted in favour of a directly elected mayor, with the first expected to be elected in 2022. Current practice is for the term of office to begin in June with the former Mayor presenting the Chain of Office to the incoming Mayor, thus formally inaugurating a new term. Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer (CRC), also known as bowel cancer, colon cancer, or rectal cancer, is the development of cancer from the colon or rectum (parts of the large intestine). Signs and symptoms may include blood in the stool, a change in bowel movements, weight loss, and fatigue. Most colorectal cancers are due to old age and lifestyle factors, with only a small number of cases due to underlying genetic disorders. Matt Cooper (born 21 July 1966) is an Irish journalist, author, television presenter and radio presenter of '' The Last Word'' on Today FM. He is also a former editor of the ''Sunday Tribune''. Early life Cooper was born in Cork in 1966 and was educated at the North Monastery school and later at University College Cork. As well as radio, sport was another early passion. Cooper played rugby with Sunday's Well and later captained the under-20s team. He also had a fondness for GAA, and played Gaelic football and hurling for the Bishopstown GAA club. Newcastle West () or simply Newcastle (''An Caisleán Nua'', formerly anglicized Castlenoe) is a town in west County Limerick, Ireland. It is the largest town in the county, excluding Limerick city, It is also the county town, and sits on the River Arra which flows into the River Deel.
