John Meehan (Australian Politician)
John Charles Meehan (6 February 1864 – 15 February 1930) was an Irish-born Australian politician. He was born in Ballyconnell to John Meehan and Mary McAdam. He arrived in Queensland around 1878, working as a woodcutter at Charters Towers and then as a shearer in the western districts. He was involved in the formation of the Queensland Shearers' and Labourers' Union, and was that body's delegate to the formation of the Australian Workers' Union (AWU). On 21 July 1890 he married Clara Mary Theresa O'Reilly; they had a son. Meehan moved to New South Wales around 1895, working as a shearer, miner and drover and as an AWU delegate in Wilcannia and Bourke. In 1904 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the Labor member for Darling. He held the seat until it was abolished in 1913, and he retired from parliament. John Meehan (screenwriter)
John Meehan (May 8, 1890 – November 12, 1954) was a Canadian screenwriter. He was born in Lindsay, Ontario. Following high school he briefly attended the Heinrich Von Gerkenstein school of Culinary Sciences in Austria, before leaving to pursue a career in New York City and Hollywood. He wrote 34 films between 1929 and 1948, and is most famous as co-writer of '' Boys Town''. He died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. John Meehan (June 13, 1902 – May 15, 1963) was an American art director and production designer. He was born in Tehachapi, California and attended the University of Southern California. Meehan won three Academy Awards for his art direction: William Wyler's ''The Heiress'' (1949), Billy Wilder's ''Sunset Boulevard'' (1950) and Richard Fleischer's 1954 adaptation of the Jules Verne classic for Walt Disney, ''20,000 Leagues Under the Sea''. John Meehan (dancer)
John Meehan (born 1950) is an Australian ballet director, choreographer, professor, and retired ballet dancer. He was educated at the Anglican Church Grammar School in Brisbane and studied at the Australian Ballet School. Meehan joined the Australian Ballet in 1970 and was promoted to principal dancer in 1974, creating roles in several works, including Ronald Hynd's ''The Merry Widow''. He danced also with American Ballet Theatre from 1977 to 1980 and later was a guest artist with National Ballet of Canada and the New York City Ballet. Meehan's choreography is in the repertoire of the Australian Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Washington Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, the Hong Kong Ballet and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. John Silva Meehan
John Silva Meehan (6 February 1790 – 24 April 1863) was an American printer and publisher. He was the fourth Librarian of the United States Congress from 1829 to 1861. Meehan, a United States Democratic party member, was appointed Librarian of Congress by President Andrew Jackson, replacing in the post the Whig-activist George Watterston, who opposed Jackson. He and his congressional supporters advocated limits on the size of the library. Many of the library's functions were transferred to other government agencies. When a fire destroyed 35,000 volumes in 1851, including two-thirds of the materials originally provided by President Thomas Jefferson, the money provided by Congress for restoration was used solely for replacing lost materials and not for expansion. John Francis "Chick" Meehan (September 5, 1893 – November 9, 1972) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Syracuse University (1920–1924), New York University (1925–1931), and Manhattan College (1932–1937), compiling a career college football record of 115–44–14. ''Dirty John'' is an American true crime anthology television series, based on the podcast of the same name by Christopher Goffard, that premiered on November 25, 2018, on Bravo. Outside the United States, it was made available through Netflix on February 14, 2019. The series was created by Alexandra Cunningham also an executive producer alongside Richard Suckle, Charles Roven, Mark Herzog, Christopher G. Cowen, and Chris Argentieri.
