John Kennedy (Utah Politician)
John Kennedy Jr. (1847–1928) was an American politician in Utah and leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He was the bishop of the Argyle Ward of the LDS Church in Argyle, Utah, during its entire existence. Kennedy was also a member of the Utah State Legislature, the Rich County Commission, and a justice of the peace. Kennedy was born 12 October 1847 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, to John Kennedy and his wife Elizabeth Black. In the 1860s, he joined the LDS Church along with the rest of his family and in 1870 sailed to America on the ship ''Colorado'' with his brother James. The Kennedy brothers worked as coal miners in Pennsylvania and then in Almy, Wyoming. Soon after arriving in Almy, Kennedy married Hannah Simpson. John and Hannah became the parents of 16 children. John Edward Kennedy (May 29, 1941 – August 9, 2018) was an American major league baseball third baseman, shortstop and second baseman. He played from 1962 to 1974 for the Washington Senators, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Seattle Pilots / Milwaukee Brewers, and Boston Red Sox. John Irvin Kennedy (October 12, 1926 – April 27, 1998) was an American professional baseball shortstop. Kennedy was the first African-American player to be signed by and play for the Philadelphia Phillies, the last National League baseball team to support Baseball color line, anti-Black segregation. The Phillies had fielded all-White teams through the 1956 Philadelphia Phillies season, 1956 season. Career Kennedy signed as a free agent with the New York Giants (NL), New York Giants in Major League Baseball (MLB) before the season, but was released prior to the season. Kennedy caught on with the Birmingham Black Barons, and later the Kansas City Monarchs, both of the Negro American League. John Kennedy (December 25, 1939 – November 23, 2015) was a former NASCAR and ARCA driver from Villa Park, Illinois. He competed in 18 NASCAR Cup Series races, 5 ARCA Menards Series races, and 1 NASCAR West Series race in his career. Racing career Kennedy started in 1969, he ran eight races in his own car. He debuted at North Carolina Speedway, where he started 43rd in the forty-three car field and finished there following an early engine failure. Kennedy would struggle for the rest of the year, only earning two top-twenties. The better of them was a 14th at Atlanta and then a 15th at Charlotte. John Kennedy (born 1964) is an Irish retired hurling, hurler. His National Hurling League, league and All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, championship career with the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary senior team lasted seven seasons from 1986 to 1992. John Maxwell Kennedy (15 December 1931 – 13 December 2023) was a cricketer who played first-class cricket in 31 matches for Warwickshire between 1960 and 1962. He was born at Barton-upon-Irwell, Manchester, England. Kennedy was a right-handed middle-order batsman. He scored 63 on debut against Oxford University in June 1960 and was then picked for a few more games that season, though he did not pass 50 again that year. In one of his 1960 matches, a home game against Somerset that was drifting towards a draw, he was put on to bowl for the final overs of the Somerset second innings before close of play: in nine balls, he took two wickets for just one run, and his victims were both Test players, Abbas Ali Baig and Colin McCool.
