John Harris (first Baseman)
John Thomas Harris (born September 13, 1954) is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the California Angels. He was formerly the manager for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Harris was born in Portland, Oregon. He attended Lubbock Christian University. He was chosen in the 29th round of the 1976 Major League Baseball draft. He played in the major leagues from 1979 until October 1981 — all with the California Angels. He was the hitting coach of the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association in 2009 and alternated between the Shreveport-Bossier Captains in the American Association and the Amarillo Dillas of the United League in 2010 as the hitting coach. Jonathan Richard Harris (born October 16, 1993) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played college baseball at Missouri State University, and was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. High school and college Harris attended Hazelwood Central High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 33rd round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft but did not sign and played college baseball at Missouri State University. As a freshman in 2013, Harris started 13 games going 8–2 with a 3.87 earned run average (ERA) and 61 strikeouts. As a sophomore, he appeared in 15 games with 11 starts. He went 3–5 with a 3.16 ERA, 66 strikeouts and two saves. After the 2014 season, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The Shreveport–Bossier Captains were a professional baseball team based in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the United States. Following the 2011 season, the team was sold to new ownership and moved to Laredo, Texas, to continue play as the Laredo Lemurs.
