John Golding (art Historian)
John Golding (10 September 1929 – 9 April 2012) was a British artist, art scholar, and curator, perhaps best known for his seminal text ''Cubism: A History and an Analysis, 1907–1914'', first published in 1959 and later revised in several subsequent editions. He taught "Art of the Modern Period" at the Courtauld Institute of Art from 1959 to 1981 and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1994. John Golding (British Politician)
John Golding (9 March 1931 – 20 January 1999) was a Labour Party politician and trade union leader in the United Kingdom. Biography He was educated at Chester City Grammar School, Keele University and the London School of Economics. After some time working in the Civil Service he took up a research job with the Post Office Engineering Union. Golding was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Newcastle-under-Lyme at a by-election in 1969. He served in the governments of Harold Wilson and James Callaghan, as PPS to Eric Varley as Minister of Technology, a Labour whip in opposition, and Minister for Employment. He was an outspoken opponent of Labour left-wingers such as Tony Benn and Eric Heffer, whom he regarded as idle dreamers out of touch with the working-class. Golding was a key figure in opposing the entryist Militant tendency, and especially in mobilising moderate trade union leaders to exercise their block votes to achieve this end. John Anthony Golding (25 July 1920 – 18 April 2012) was a British colonial administrator who served as Administrator of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 1965 to 1967. He was awarded a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) personally by Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to the islands in February 1966. Sir John Simon Rawson Golding Order of Jamaica, OJ Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons, FRCS (15 April 1921 – 23 March 1996) was a British orthopaedic surgeon known for his work in Jamaica. He moved to the country in 1953 and was a long-serving professor at the University of West Indies in Mona, Jamaica, Mona. He specialised in rehabilitation medicine and was a pioneer of that field in Jamaica. Early life Golding was born in London on 15 April 1921. His parents were Lithuanian Jews who arrived in the United Kingdom in the 1890s. He was educated at Marlborough College before going on to Caius College, Cambridge. He graduated MBBS in 1944. Jon Golding (born 6 May 1982 in Morpeth, Northumberland, England) is a rugby union player for Newcastle Falcons in the RFU Championship, playing at the loose-head prop position.
