John Dunn (radio Presenter)
John Churchill Dunn (4 March 1934 – 27 November 2004) was a British disc jockey and radio presenter known for hosting the weekday drivetime show on BBC Radio 2 between 1976 and 1998. Dunn's career spanned more than 30 years and he was named Radio Personality of the Year three times. Early life Dunn was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Career Dunn began his broadcasting career when he was conscripted into the RAF. He joined the BBC External Service in 1956 as a studio manager. He then became an announcer for domestic BBC Radio in the 1960s, presenting ''Serenade in the Night'' from January 1960 and ''Family Favourites'' from April of that same year, both on the Light Programme. Samuel Gabriel Costa (17 June 1910 – 23 September 1981) was an English singer, entertainer and broadcaster. The Eurovision Song Contest 1979 was the 24th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Jerusalem, Israel, following the country's victory at the with the song "A-Ba-Ni-Bi" by Izhar Cohen and the Alphabeta. The Radio Academy Awards, started in 1983, were the most prestigious awards in the British radio industry. For most of their existence, they were run by ZAFER Associates, but in latter years were brought under the control of The Radio Academy. The awards were generally referred to by the name of their first sponsor, Sony, as The Sony Awards, The Sony Radio Awards or variations. Johnnie Walker (DJ)
Peter Waters Dingley (30 March 1945 – 31 December 2024), known professionally as Johnnie Walker, was an English radio disc jockey and broadcaster. He began his career in 1966 on Offshore radio, pirate radio station Swinging Radio England before joining Radio Caroline. He joined BBC Radio 1 in 1969 and BBC Radio 2 in 1998. From 2009 to 2024, he presented ''Sounds of the 70s'' on Radio 2 on Sunday afternoons and ''The Radio 2 Rock Show'' on Friday nights from 2018 to 2024. On 6 October 2024, Walker announced his retirement from broadcasting after 58 years because of ill health, with his final show airing on 27 October.
