Sir John Alexander Macdonald (10 or 11January 18156June 1891) was the first prime minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and from 1878 until his death in 1891. He was the Fathers of Confederation, dominant figure of Canadian Confederation, and had a political career that spanned almost half a century. Macdonald was born in Scotland; when he was a boy his family immigrated to Kingston, Ontario, Kingston in the Province of Upper Canada (today in eastern Ontario). John Gordon Davis (21 January 1936 – 5 November 2014) was a Southern Rhodesian writer of adventure novels. The worldwide success of his first published novel, ''Hold My Hand I'm Dying'' (1967), prompted him to become a full-time writer. Education and early occupations Of Welsh heritage, Gordon Davis was born in the town of Enkeldoorn in Southern Rhodesia (now Chivhu, Zimbabwe), to John Gordon-Davis and Iris Tilly. John Davis and the Monster Orchestra were an American disco band, noted for their lead member (John "the Monster" Davis), who lent his name to the band as well as producing all of their output. History The ensemble released its first album, ''Night and Day'', in 1976. The 12" single, "I Can't Stop", was one of its original tunes.The song became an influence in the culture of hip hop being used by the Brothers Black, Jungle Brothers, Run-Dmc and Missy Elliott. Superdrag is an American alternative rock band from Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. They had a hit single in 1996, " Sucked Out", from their album ''Regretfully Yours''. The original lineup reunited in 2007, releasing a full-length album in 2009: ''Industry Giants''. The same lineup reunited again in 2021. Career Early years (1992–1995) Superdrag had its roots in the early 1990s when Knoxville guitar player Brandon Fisher began dating the cousin of John Davis. Davis began playing the drums in Brandon's band, The Used (not to be confused with the Utah-based band), along with Tom Pappas. Don Coffey Jr. joined and began playing drums with the band. Pappas switched from his guitarist role to become the band's bass player, Fisher resumed on the lead guitar, and Superdrag was born. Blind John Davis (December 7, 1913 – October 12, 1985) was an American blues and boogie-woogie pianist and singer. He is best remembered for his recordings, including "A Little Every Day" and "Everybody's Boogie". Biography Davis was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and relocated with his family to Chicago at the age of two. Seven years later, he had lost his sight. In his early years Davis backed Merline Johnson, and by his mid-twenties he was a well-known and reliable accompanying pianist. Between 1937 and 1942, he recorded with Big Bill Broonzy, Sonny Boy Williamson I, Tampa Red, Red Nelson, Merline Johnson, and others. He also made several records of his own, singing in his lightweight voice. Having played in various recording sessions with Lonnie Johnson, Davis teamed up with him in the 1940s.
