John Edgar Courtney
John Edgar Courtney (born 1934) is an Australian farmer and amateur ornithologist. He helped put together the first ''Field Guide to Australian Birdsong'', produced by the Bird Observation & Conservation Australia, Bird Observers Club of Australia. He joined the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU) in 1959 and was the RAOU's New England (Australia), New England regional representative 1971–1978. In 1999 he was awarded the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union, RAOU's John Hobbs Medal for outstanding contributions to Australian ornithology as an amateur. John Mortimer Courtney
John Mortimer Courtney, (July 22, 1838 – October 8, 1920) was a Canadian civil servant. Biography Born in Penzance, England, he was the second son of John Sampson Courtney and Sarah Mortimer. Courtney worked at Mount's Bay Bank in Penzance, then in India with the Agra Bank in Calcutta and in New South Wales, Australia, and finally with Royal Bank of India. In 1869, he joined the Public Service of Canada, working under John Langton as a chief clerk and assistant secretary to the Treasury Board of Canada. In 1878, he was promoted to deputy minister and ''ex officio'' deputy receiver general and secretary to the Treasury Board. He was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1898 and Companion of the Imperial Service Order The Imperial Service Order was established by King Edward VII in August 1902. John Courtney (diarist)
John Courtney (1734–1806) was an English diarist, lawyer and property owner. He attended Trinity College, Cambridge, where he received legal training. He inherited lands and properties in and around Beverley, Yorkshire, where he lived and served in the local militia. He kept diaries from 1759 to his death. Life and career Courtney was born in Beverley. His father, also John (1679–1756), the son of a London stonemason, worked for the East India Company and became Governor of Surat. His mother was Elizabeth Bourdenand (née Featherstone), daughter of Thomas Featherstone of Beverley. His parents were married in 1732. Courtney studied at Beverley Grammar School under the Revd John Clarke, who moved to Wakefield School in 1751, taking Courtney with him. Jonathan Courtney
Jonathan Courtney (born July 16, 1966) is an American politician from Maine. Courtney served as a Republican state senator from Maine's 3rd District, representing part of York County including Sanford and his home in Springvale. He was first elected in 2002 to the Maine House of Representatives and served one term. He was elected to the Maine Senate in 2004 was unable to run for re-election due to term limits in 2012.
