	John Cotterell John Cotterell DCL (died 1572) was an English clergyman and academic at the University of Oxford, who was one of the founding fellows of Jesus College, Oxford. Life and career Cotterell, who was from Wiltshire, England, originally, was a Fellow of New College, Oxford, from 1524 to 1542, obtaining his BCL degree in 1532. He obtained his DCL in 1543. He was Rector of Winford, Somerset from 1524 until his death in 1572 and held other ecclesiastical positions: vicar of Adderbury, Oxfordshire (1542); rector of Everleigh, Wiltshire (1546); rector of Burton Bradstock, Dorset (1550); rector of Tidcombe, Tiverton, Devon (1562). He was Archdeacon of Dorset 1550–71, and Archdeacon of Wells 1554–72. He was appointed Prebendary of Bristol in 1545, of Wells in 1554 (until 1572) and of Lincoln in 1555 (until 1560). 	Sir John Cotterell, 1st Baronet Sir John Geers Cotterell, 1st Baronet (21 September 1757 – 26 January 1845) was a British politician. He served as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Herefordshire from 1802 to 1803, and from 1806 to 1831. Early life Cotterell was born on 21 September 1757. He was the son of Anne Geers and Sir John Brookes-Cotterell, High Sheriff of Herefordshire in 1761. His paternal grandparents were John Cotterell and Mary ( Jackson) Cotterell. His mother was the daughter, and heiress, of John Geers of Garnons, Herefordshire. Career Cotterell was known as an anti-Catholic Tory squire, or large landowner, in Hereford. 	Sir John Cotterell, 4th Baronet Sir John Richard Geers Cotterell, 4th Baronet (13 July 1866 – 13 November 1937) was an English baronet. Early life Cotterell was born on 13 July 1866. He was the son of Sir Geers Cotterell, 3rd Baronet and Hon. Katherine Margaret Airey. His father, an MP for Herefordshire, had succeeded to the baronetcy in 1847, upon the death of his brother (John's uncle) John Henry Cotterell.
