John Cavanaugh (baseball)
John Joseph Cavanaugh (June 5, 1900 – January 14, 1961) was an American Major League Baseball third baseman. He played in one game for the Philadelphia Phillies on July 7 during the 1919 Philadelphia Phillies season, and was the first player born in the 1900s to appear in a Major League Baseball game. Career Following his one game played during the 1919 season as a 19-year-old, Cavanaugh played in parts of 3 minor league seasons. He spent 1921 and 1922 with the Reading Aces of the International League and 1924 with the Wilkes-Barre Barons of the New York-Penn League. John Cavanaugh (politician)
John J. Cavanaugh Jr. (born October 6, 1980) is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the Nebraska Legislature from the 9th district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 6, 2021. He is currently running for Nebraska's 2nd congressional district in the 2026 election. Early life and education Cavanaugh was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He is one of eight siblings. His father, John J. Cavanaugh III, was also a member of the Nebraska Legislature and represented Nebraska's 2nd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1977 to 1981. His sister, Machaela Cavanaugh, is also a member of the Nebraska Legislature. Cavanaugh graduated from Creighton Preparatory School in 1999. John William Cavanaugh (September 20, 1921 in Sycamore, Ohio – January 9, 1985 in Washington, D.C.) was an American sculptor who worked for much of his career in Washington, D.C., where he lived and worked in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. He worked primarily in lead, a poisonous metal. This is believed to have led to his death from cancer of the lungs. Life John Cavanaugh was born in rural Sycamore, Ohio as the third of four sons of Hilda and Chauncy Floyd Cavanaugh, intensely religious, poor ethnic Irish parents. His family struggled, especially after the suicide of his father in 1929 when John was eight. Cavanaugh first attended local schools, but his mother recognized and wanted to encourage his creativity, sending him to an Ursuline school for art training. John Joseph Cavanaugh III (born August 1, 1945) is an American politician and lawyer from Nebraska. First elected to the Nebraska Legislature from 1977 until 1981, he served in the United States House of Representatives from Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district. Since the death of Brad Ashford in 2022, Cavanaugh is the only living Democrat in the state to have been elected to the House of Representatives. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 – February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.)
