John Carruthers (25 October 1863 – 25 December 1949) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. John Carruthers (engineer)
John Carruthers (21 June 1836–2 September 1914) was a British engineer and economic theorist from a Scottish literary family. He was born in Inverness, Inverness-shire, Scotland on 21 June 1836. He worked on railway construction in Canada, America, Russia, Mauritius and Egypt before being recruited by the Premier of New Zealand Julius Vogel for his great Public Works policy of the 1870s which emphasized railway construction and immigration. He was made Engineer-in Chief of the new Public Works Department, responsible for railway construction. He resigned in 1878 after the new Minister of Works (James Macandrew) effectively demoted him to having charge of the North Island only. In the 1880s he was resident in Venezuela, where he was involved in the construction of the Puerto Cabello and Valencia Railway, which connected the country's second city to the coast. John Richard Carruthers (born 13 April 1970) is an English cricketer. Carruthers is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire. Carruthers represented the Yorkshire Cricket Board in List A cricket. His debut List A match came against the Gloucestershire Cricket Board 1999 NatWest Trophy. From 1999 to 2001, he represented the Board in 6 List A matches, the last of which came against the Northamptonshire Cricket Board in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. In his 6 List A matches, he scored 9 runs at a batting average of 3.00, with a high score of 9. In the field he took a single catch. John Carruthers (9 April 1847 – 22 April 1942) was a surveyor in South Australia, who fixed the boundary between the Northern Territory and Queensland. History John Carruthers, Sr., (c. 1806 – 1 November 1887) originally from Dumfries, was a clothier with a business in Snow Hill, London. Deciding on the life of a farmer in the newly declared colony of South Australia, he emigrated aboard ''Cleveland'' with a supply of farming equipment, household furniture and two farm labourers, arriving in December 1839. He selected a property near the Torrens Gorge, where he established a makeshift dwelling in a cave, then built a comfortable cottage and shortly afterwards married Harriet Fill, a fellow passenger on the ''Cleveland''. In this idyllic setting their eldest daughter was born, but around 1842 he abandoned rural life for that of a publican, and moved into the city, taking over the "Royal Oak" hotel, then the "Globe Inn", on the Stephens Place corner of Rundle Street. John Valentine Carruthers (born 1958 in Wortley, West Riding of Yorkshire) is an English musician, guitarist, and composer. He is mainly known for being a member of Siouxsie and the Banshees from mid-1984 until early 1987. Early years In the early 1980s, he joined Sheffield band Clock DVA after the release of their second studio album. His first recording with Clock DVA was the EP '' Passions Still Aflame'' in 1982. It was followed by the album '' Advantage'' in 1983. Siouxsie and the Banshees He was then recruited by Siouxsie and the Banshees to be a full-time member of the group from May 1984. With the Banshees, he recorded '' The Thorn'' EP (1984), and two studio albums '' Tinderbox'' in 1986, and the covers album '' Through the Looking Glass'' in 1987. He left the band in January 1987.
