John Blandford Jr.
John Bennett Blandford Jr. (1897-1972) was the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East's second Director from 1951 to 1953. Blandford served as chairman of the UNRWA Advisory Commission before becoming director of UNRWA. He had been deputy chief of U.S. Economic Cooperation Administration in Greece and a consultant to president Harry Truman on the Marshall Plan.Benjamin N. Harry Truman
Harry S. Truman (May 8, 1884December 26, 1972) was the 33rd president of the United States, serving from 1945 to 1953. The Marshall Plan (officially the European Recovery Program, ERP) was an American initiative enacted in 1948 to provide foreign aid to Western Europe. The United States transferred over $13 billion (equivalent of about $ in ) in economic recovery programs to Western European economies after the end of World War II. Replacing an earlier proposal for a Morgenthau Plan, it operated for four years beginning on April 3, 1948. The goals of the United States were to rebuild war-torn regions, remove trade barriers, modernize industry, improve European prosperity and prevent the spread of communism. Howard Kennedy (Canadian Army Officer)
Howard Kennedy (31 May 1892 – 1967) was a Canadian Army officer and the first Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from 1950 to 1951. Kennedy was a leading engineer in Ottawa before World War II. Joining the Canadian Army in 1939, he rose to be Quartermaster-General in 1943–44. He was awarded the OBE in January 1944. Henry Labouisse
Henry Richardson Labouisse Jr. (February 11, 1904 – March 25, 1987) was an American diplomat and statesman. He was the third Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from 1954 to 1958. He was the director of the United Nations Children's Fund for years (1965–1979). He was also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. A lawyer, he was United States Ambassador to France 1952–1954, as well as United States Ambassador to Greece 1962–1965. Labouisse had been the principal United States Department of State official dealing with the implementation of the Marshall Plan. He was born to Henry Richardson Labouisse Sr. and Frances Devereux (Huger) Labouisse, a granddaughter of Leonidas Polk, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He married Elizabeth Scriven Clark on June 29, 1935.
