John Blake (rugby Union)
John Blake (30 May 1933 – 9 September 1982) was a rugby player and teacher who captained Bristol Rugby through one of their most successful periods in the 1950s. Blake, "the most influential individual in the history of the Bristol club", was a fly half, educated at St Brendan's College and Bristol University. He became captain of Bristol in 1957 and was central in the club's adoption of an adventurous and attractive style of play that became known as "rugby Bristol fashion". Blake's approach to the game was immediately successful. During his first season in charge the club records for both points scored and wins in a season were broken. The points scored record was then broken in the two subsequent seasons. Eschewing kicking, Blake emphasised passing and running with the ball. John Blake House
The John Blake House is located on Homestead Avenue ( NY 208) in Maybrook, New York, United States. It is a brick building from the late 18th century, one of the oldest houses in the village John Blake, a prominent local politician, built the house around an earlier log cabin. A wing was added in the mid-19th century, but it has not otherwise been altered. In 1984 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a well-preserved example of the kind of home built by settlers of English descent in the early years of the Federal style of American architecture. John Rennie Blake
John Rennie Blake (1825-1900) was the faculty chairman in charge of Davidson College from 1871 to 1877. After the death of George Wilson McPhail, the position of president was vacated as the college opted to elect a faculty member, Blake, to oversee the college until Andrew Dousa Hepburn was appointed in 1877. Because Blake was not an ordained minister, he was ineligible to become president according to the college's constitution. John Lauris Blake (December 21, 1788 – July 6, 1857) was an American clergyman and bestselling author. He is best known as the author of the '' General Biographical Dictionary''. Life John Lauris Blake was born on 21 December 1788 in Northwood, New Hampshire. During his adolescence, he practiced cabinet making and at the same time prepared himself for college. John Henry Blake
John Henry Blake (1808 – 29 June 1882) was a murdered Irish land agent. Biography John Henry Blake was the third and youngest son of Lieutenant-Colonel John Blake of Furbo, County Galway and Maria Galway of Cork. He was a member of one of The Tribes of Galway. He worked firstly as a bailiff on the Blake estate at Furbo, but in the late 1830s moved to Kiltullagh, Athenry, to act as his infant nephew's land agent. He lived at Rathville House, Raford, in the parish of Kiltullagh. In later life, Blake was an agent to Hubert de Burgh-Canning, 2nd Marquess of Clanricarde. Clanricarde was commonly held to be the worst landlord in all Ireland, and infamous for his evicting of tenants. However, he lived in London so it was easier to target Blake. Both Blake and his driver, Thady Ruane, were shot on the way to attend mass in Loughrea. Blake's wife, who was present, survived the incident. John Frederick Blake (3 April 1839 – 7 July 1906) was a British geologist and Anglican clergyman. Blake received B.A. 1862 and M.A. 1865 from Caius College, Cambridge. He was ordained a deacon in 1862 and a priest in 1863. He was curate of Lenton, Nottinghamshire, from 1862 to 1864 and curate of St Mary's, Bryanston Square, London, from 1864 to 1865. He was Professor of Natural Science at University College, Nottingham, from 1881 to 1888. In 1895 he went to India to arrange the Baroda Museum. John Bradby Blake (4 November 1745 – 16 November 1773) was an English botanist. Working in China as a resident supercargo for the British East India Company, he sent seeds of local plants to Britain and the American colonies for propagation while also recording and studying Chinese plants and culture. Though he died at the age of 27, Bradby Blake left behind a rich archive of his work and correspondence that gives insight into cross-cultural interactions and botanical study in China at the time.
