John Barnett (Australian Rules Footballer)
John Barnett (born 15 August 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne and Collingwood in the Australian Football League (AFL). Barnett played for Endeavour Hills and the Hawthorn Under 19s prior to joining North Melbourne. He had also appeared for Hawthorn in the 1992 Foster's Cup The 1992 AFL Foster's Cup was the Australian Football League pre-season cup competition played in its entirety before the 1992 season began. John Barnett (rugby)
John Thomas "Towser" Barnett (19 January 1881 – 2 October 1918) was a pioneer Australian rugby union and rugby league footballer who won an Olympic gold medal for rugby at the 1908 Summer Olympics. He was one of Australia's early dual-code rugby internationals. Rugby union career A hooker/ prop with the Newtown Rugby Union club in Sydney, Barnett was selected five times to play representative rugby for Australia. His debut was against New Zealand, in Sydney, on 20 July 1907. Barnett was selected to the first Wallaby 1908–09 Australia rugby union tour of Britain, the squad captained by Herbert Moran. John Francis Barnett
John Francis Barnett (16 October 183724 November 1916) was an English composer, pianist and teacher. Life John Francis Barnett was born on 16 October 1837 at St John's Wood, London. His father was Joseph Alfred Barnett (1810-1898), a professor of music, and his uncle was the composer John Barnett. John Francis carried on the traditions of the family as a composer and teacher. He obtained a Queen's Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, London, in 1849 studying under William Sterndale Bennett and developing into an accomplished pianist. In 1857 he travelled to Leipzig to study composition and piano, playing Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 2 in D minor at a Gewandhaus concert on 22 March 1860. His teachers at the Conservatoire in Leipzig were the great pianist Ignaz Moscheles (who had been a pupil of Beethoven), Moritz Hauptmann, Julius Rietz and Louis Plaidy. John Davis Barnett (1848-1926) was an early Canadian curator-librarian. Barnett collected the materials to create one of the significant early personal Ontario libraries and was a vocal proponent of education through the use of freely available printed materials. He is a renowned collector writing extensively on the ideas of inter-library loans, classification scheme trends, the national library for Canada movement, collections development, scientific management theory and his own personal reference theory. Involved with books from an early age he collected widely and worked throughout his life to ensure that knowledge was available to all. John Maughan Barnett (21 March 1867 – 31 July 1938) was a New Zealand organist, choirmaster, pianist, composer and conductor. Early life He was born in Leamington, Warwickshire, England on 21 March 1867. He studied piano and composition at the Crystal Palace School in Sydenham, London. Career Barnett was organist and choirmaster at churches in Tunbridge Wells and St Leonards, Sussex. In 1890, for health reasons, he emigrated to Hobart, Tasmania. There he was organist and choirmaster at the cathedral, moving to the same position in Napier, New Zealand in 1893. In England, Tasmania and New Zealand he taught, composed and performed on the organ and piano. John Manley Barnett (3 September 1917–6 December 2013) was an American orchestral conductor and musician. He played cornet, trumpet, violin and piano. In 1939, he became the youngest professional symphony conductor in the United States. He toured the world extensively as an orchestral conductor and championed new performers and composers. John Mitchell Barnett (February 23, 1962 – March 9, 2024) was an American whistleblower who was known for his substantiated safety and quality reports to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about Boeing's production of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and death which occurred amidst a lawsuit he brought against Boeing. Barnett worked in quality control at Boeing for 32 years, serving for seven as a manager at Boeing South Carolina. Barnett was one of several employees to go public about malpractices at Boeing beginning in 2019 with '' The New York Times'' and was featured in the 2022 Netflix documentary titled '' Downfall: The Case Against Boeing''. During his time in South Carolina, Barnett documented and reported several safety and quality issues to Boeing and the FAA.
