John Ashe (minister)
John Ashe (1671–1735) was an English dissenting minister. Ashe was the son of a grocer at Tideswell, Derbyshire. After being taught at Chesterfield by Mr. Foxlow, and at Wirksworth by Mr. Ogden, he was sent in 1688 to Rathmell Academy. He was chaplain for a time to Lady Sarah Houghton of Hoghton Tower, Lancashire, but returned to the Peak and was a minister at Ashford. He published an account of the life of his uncle, the Rev. William Bagshaw, ‘the Apostle of the Peak’ (1704); a few sermons; and prepared for the press eleven volumes of sermons, of which only one appeared. A life of Ashe was published by John Clegg, presbyterian minister of Chapel-en-le-Frith, in 1736. References

John Ashe (of Freshford)
John Ashe (23 October 1597– 9 February 1659) was an English clothier and politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1640 and 1659. Life Ashe was the son of James Ashe of Westcombe, Batcombe, Somerset and his wife Grace Pitt, daughter of Richard Pitt of Melcombe Regis. He entered the cloth trade and became on the "greatest clothier in his time". He came to the attention of the church authorities in the 1630s, associated with the "Beckington riots" against Alexander Huish, and the distribution of Puritan literature. He spent time in jail as an opponent of the ritualist side of Laudianism. In fact Ashe was important in distributing widely the ''News from Ipswitch'' of William Prynne, with Rice Boye. In April 1640, Ashe was elected Member of Parliament for Westbury in the Short Parliament. He was re-elected MP for Westbury for the Long Parliament in November 1640. John Ashe (general)
Major General John Ashe (March 24, 1725 – October 24, 1781) was a senior officer of the North Carolina Militia during the American Revolutionary War. Prior to that, he served as the Speaker of the North Carolina House of Burgesses from 1762 to 1765. Early life and education Ashe was born at Grovely in New Hanover County (present-day Brunswick County), North Carolina, on March 24, 1725, to John Baptista and Elizabeth (née Swann) Ashe. He attended Harvard University but dropped out. Settling northeast of the Cape Fear River, he built a plantation called Green Hill. Ashe served as a colonel in the North Carolina Militia during the French and Indian War (17541763). John Baptist Ashe (1748November 27, 1802) was an American politician and military officer from Halifax, North Carolina. Biography He was born in the Rocky Point District of the Province of North Carolina in 1748. He was the son of Samuel Ashe and Mary Porter Ashe (cousin to her husband and first wife). John Baptista Ashe (1810December 29, 1857), was an American lawyer and the nephew of the Revolutionary War veteran John Baptista Ashe, who served as a U.S. Congressman for Tennessee for one term (1843–1845). John William Ashe
John William Ashe (20 August 1954 – 22 June 2016) was an Antiguan diplomat and politician. He was the President of the United Nations General Assembly at its 68th session, which ran September 2013 to September 2014. He was also President of the UNICEF Executive Board in 2012. He served as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York of Antigua and Barbuda between 1995 and 2004. Early life and education Ashe was born in St. John's, Antigua.
