Joe Robertson (ice Hockey)
Joseph Dunbar Robertson (born March 10, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Early life Robertson was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, and attended King's-Edgehill School. He played junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals. Career Robertson began his minor league career with the Clinton Comets of the Eastern Hockey League. He was later a member of the Omaha Knights, Salt Lake Golden Eagles, Seattle Totems, and Cincinnati Swords. During the 1974–75 season, Robertson played 29 games in the World Hockey Association with the Minnesota Fighting Saints and Indianapolis Racers The Indianapolis Racers were a major league hockey team in the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1974 to 1978. World Hockey Association
The World Hockey Association (french: Association mondiale de hockey) was a professional ice hockey major league that operated in North America from 1972 to 1979. It was the first major league to compete with the National Hockey League (NHL) since the collapse of the Western Hockey League in 1926. Although the WHA was not the first league since that time to attempt to challenge the NHL's supremacy, it was by far the most successful in the modern era. The WHA tried to capitalize on the lack of hockey teams in a number of major American cities and mid-level Canadian cities, and also hoped to attract the best players by paying more than NHL owners would. The WHA successfully challenged the NHL's reserve clause, which had bound players to their NHL teams even without a valid contract, allowing players in both leagues greater freedom of movement. Omaha Knights (CHL) Players
The Omaha Knights was the name of three minor league professional ice hockey teams from 1959 to 1965 and from 1966 to 1975, based in Omaha, Nebraska, at the Ak-Sar-Ben Arena.
