Joe Kennedy (Georgia Politician)
Joseph Everett Kennedy (October 8, 1930 – June 19, 1997) was a Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia State Senator born in Claxton, Georgia, United States. Biography Personal life Kennedy attended Claxton schools and graduated from Claxton High School in 1947. After graduation he attended Georgia Military College where he graduated in 1949. Following his time at GMC, Kennedy became a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Bronze Star, and two Service star, Battle Stars. On December 25, 1953, Joseph Kennedy married Lalah Kennedy of Tattnall County. Kennedy would later be heavily influenced by his father-in-law, the Honorable J. Cliff Kennedy, who was involved in the government of the State of Georgia. Kennedy became very involved in his community. Ogeechee Technical College
Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) is a public technical college in Statesboro, Georgia. It is part of the Technical College System of Georgia. OTC serves Bulloch, Evans, Screven and surrounding counties. History State Senator Joe Kennedy was instrumental in the creation of Ogeechee Technical Institute, a post-secondary school that he hoped would educate and give job training to people in Bulloch County and the surrounding area. Ogeechee Technical Institute was created in 1987 by approval of the Georgia General Assembly. In 1989, Ogeechee Technical Institute became responsible for Adult Literacy throughout its service area. That same year, Practical Nursing, with a student body of twenty-five became the first credited program to be offered by the institute. Joseph Franklin Harris (born February 16, 1936) is an American businessman and Democratic politician who served as the 78th governor of Georgia from 1983 to 1991. Early life and career Harris was born in the Atco Mill Village of Cartersville, Georgia, to Frank and Frances Harris. Harris was the second of three children with brother Fred Harris and sister Glenda Harris Gambill. Harris attended Asbury College for one year, then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1958 with a degree in business administration. While attending Georgia, he also became a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation, Harris returned to his native Cartersville, Georgia to join his father Frank and brother Fred in the family run cement business.
