Jiří Jelínek (born 1977) is a Czech ballet dancer. He was a principal dancer with the National Theatre Ballet (Prague) and the Stuttgart Ballet. A principal dancer (often shortened to principal) is a dancer at the highest rank within a professional dance company, particularly a ballet company. A principal may be either gender. The position is similar to that of ''Soloist (ballet), soloist''; however, principals regularly perform not only solo (dance), solos, but also pas de deux as well as headlining performances they participate in. Principal dancers can be hired into a dance company or can also be a company dancer that is a Corps de ballet, corps de ballet dancer that gets promoted from within the company. That process can take multiple performance seasons or even years to achieve based on skill level and company interest. National Theatre Ballet (Prague)
The National Theatre Ballet in Prague, Czech Republic was founded in 1883. It is based in Prague's National Theatre, which is also home to a drama company and an opera company. John Cranko
John Cyril Cranko (15 August 1927 – 26 June 1973) was a South African ballet dancer and choreographer with the Royal Ballet and the Stuttgart Ballet. Life and career Early life Cranko was born to Herbert and Grace Cranko in Rustenburg in the former province of Transvaal, Union of South Africa. As a child, he would put on puppet shows as a creative outlet. Cranko received his early ballet training in Cape Town under the leading South African ballet teacher and director, Dulcie Howes, of the University of Cape Town Ballet School. Onegin (Cranko)
''Onegin'' is a ballet created by John Cranko for the Stuttgart Ballet that premiered on 13 April 1965 at Staatstheater Stuttgart. The ballet was based on Alexander Pushkin's 1825–1832 novel ''Eugene Onegin'', to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and arrangements by Kurt-Heinz Stolze. The ballet has since been in the repertoires of The Australian Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, American Ballet Theatre and The Royal Ballet. Background and production Cranko first discovered Alexander Pushkin's verse-novel ''Eugene Onegin'' when he choreographed the dances for Tchaikovsky's opera of the same name in 1952. Polina Alexandrovna Semionova (; born 13 September 1984) is a Russian ballet dancer and model for Uniqlo who was a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre in New York and with the Berlin State Ballet. Sue Jin Kang
Kang Sue-jin (; born 24 April 1967) is a South Korean ballerina. She is a principal dancer at Stuttgart Ballet. Early life Kang Sue-jin was born in Seoul, South Korea. After initial ballet lessons at Sun Hwa Arts Middle School, where she majored in Korean traditional dance, she continued her education at Sun Hwa Arts High School until 1982. Bridget Breiner
Bridget Breiner (born 1974) is an American dancer and choreographer. Since 1991, she lives and works mainly in Germany. Breiner was born in Connecticut and brought up in Columbus, Ohio, where she received her early dance training. At 17, she furthered her dance studies in Munich, Germany, at the Heinz Bosl Foundation. Her first engagement was with the Bayerisches Staatsballett before she joined the Stuttgart Ballet in 1996 and became First Soloist there in 2001. Alicia Amatriain (born 1980) is a Spanish ballet dancer. She was a principal dancer at the Stuttgart Ballet. Biography Amatriain was born in San Sebastián, Spain. She first learned ballet there and later trained at John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart. She graduated in 1998 and joined Stuttgart Ballet as an apprentice.
