Jimmy Millar (footballer, Born 1876)
James Millar (4 May 1876 – January 1932) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a half back. Career Millar spent his early career with Elgin City, Rangers, Port Glasgow Athletic and Middlesbrough.Frost, p. 124 At Rangers he played as an "attacking wing half" and won the Scottish Football League title in his one full season, 1898–99, playing in the final five of the 18 fixtures – all of which Rangers won. For Middlesbrough, he made 20 appearances in the Football League; he also made 3 FA Cup appearances. He joined Bradford City in June 1903, becoming one of the club's first professional players. He was a "popular figure" and was elected by his teammates to serve as vice-captain to both Johnny McMillan and Fred Halliday. Elgin, Moray
Elgin (; sco, Ailgin; gd, Eilginn, ) is a town (former cathedral city) and formerly a Royal Burgh in Moray, Scotland. It is the administrative and commercial centre for Moray. The town originated to the south of the River Lossie on the higher ground above the floodplain where the town of Birnie is. There, the church of Birnie Kirk was built in 1140 and serves the community to this day. Elgin is first documented in the Cartulary of Moray in 1190 AD. It was created a royal burgh in the 12th century by King David I of Scotland, and by that time had a castle on top of the present-day Lady Hill to the west of the town. The origin of the name Elgin is likely to be Celtic. It may derive from 'Aille' literally signifying beauty, but in topography a beautiful place or valley. Johnny McMillan
John Stuart McMillan (16 February 1871 – 4 November 1941) was a Scottish football player and manager. He made nearly 400 appearances in the Football League in the 1890s and 1900s, playing at inside left or centre forward. Playing career McMillan was born in Port Glasgow. He began his career with home-town club Port Glasgow Athletic before joining Edinburgh-based club St Bernard's. He moved to England to join Derby County in 1890. In 1896 he moved to Leicester Fosse, before signing for Small Heath in January 1901. He made his debut for the club in February 1901, and his 13 goals in the remaining 13 games of the 1900–01 season, which included the winning goal in four of those games, made a major contribution to Small Heath's securing runners-up spot in the Second Division and promotion to the First Division. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. The Football League Second Division was the second level division in the English football league system between 1892 and 1992. Following the foundation of the FA Premier League, the Football League divisions were renumbered and the third tier became known as the Football League Second Division.
