Jim Sharp (footballer)
Jim Sharp (17 May 1882 – 7 October 1945) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club and Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Sharp was a centre half-back and started his career in 1901 with Fitzroy. He was a member of the Fitzroy side which claimed back to back premierships in 1904 and 1905. Sharp was the club's best and fairest winner in the 1904 season and was also voted best afield in the Grand Final that year. He captained both Fitzroy and the Victorian interstate team from 1908 to 1910, leading Victoria in the inaugural interstate championship series. In 1911 he crossed to Collingwood but broke his shin during his second season which ended his career. He stayed at Collingwood in an administrative capacity and in 1913 was elected club president. James Patrick Sharp Jr. (born c. 1952), known as Jim Sharp, is a former justice of the First Texas Court of Appeals, based in Houston, Texas, serving from January 2009 to December 2014. Education and background Sharp received a BA from the University of Texas at Austin and a JD from South Texas College of Law. Prior to attending law school, he worked for the Washington, D.C., political consulting firm of Matt Reese & Associates. Prior to being elected to the First Texas Court of Appeals, Sharp practiced as a general solo practitioner for nineteen years. Judicial career Sharp was elected to the First Court of Appeals in November 2008 as part of a Democratic sweep that also replaced many Republican incumbents with Democrats in the Harris County courthouse. A Dallas native, Sharp was the court's only Democrat during his time of office. He ran for re-election to a second six-year term in 2014. James Sharp also known as Jim "Razor" Sharp (born October 6, 1965) is an American former professional rodeo cowboy who specialized in bull riding. In 1988, he became the first bull rider in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA)’s National Finals Rodeo history to successfully ride each of his 10 bulls during the champion-crowning event. The record-breaking performance earned Sharp his first of two PRCA World Champion Bull Rider titles. He rode professionally for nearly 20 years, and was a co-founder of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR). He is considered among the most talented bull riders in history. In 2006, he was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. In 2016, he was inducted into the Bull Riding Hall of Fame.
