Jim Cooper
James Hayes Shofner Cooper (born June 19, 1954) is an American lawyer, businessman, professor, and politician who served as the U.S. representative for (based in Nashville and containing parts of Davidson, Cheatham, and Dickson Counties) from 2003 to 2023. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, and represented from 1983 to 1995. His district included all of Nashville. He chaired the United States House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces of the House Armed Services Committee, and sat on the Committee on Oversight and Reform, United States House Committee on the Budget, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, more committees than any other member of Congress. Jim Cooper (born 1956) is a New Zealand ceramic artist. Life Cooper was born in Westport on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island in 1956, and attended Buller High School. He studied ceramics at the Otago Polytechnic School of Art in 1984 and 1989, but did not "get a ticket"; he returned and completed a Masters of Fine Arts there in 1999. Cooper studied under Neil Grant while at Otago Polytechnic and acknowledges him as a mentor. Artistic career After graduating, he taught for some time at Otago Polytechnic. Cooper has worked in ceramics since the early 1980s; his earliest works in 1982 were vessels. He then began creating heads and torsos of free-standing figures and relief sculptures. James Albert Cooper (born September 28, 1955) is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Temple University. Early years Cooper attended Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia, not far from the Temple campus. He was a three-sport athlete, earning varsity letters in football, baseball, and track. He was the Catholic League champ in the shot put. His teammates elected him captain in all three sports during his senior year. College career Cooper accepted a football scholarship from Temple University. He played both on the offensive and defensive lines, before settling at offensive tackle, where he was a three-year starter. James Cooper (born January 5, 1964) is an American law enforcement officer and politician who served in the California State Assembly. He is a Democrat who represented the 9th Assembly District, which encompassed portions of Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties. Cooper was a member of the California Legislative Black Caucus and Assistant Majority Floor Leader. Prior to being elected to the Assembly in 2014, he was an Elk Grove Founding Mayor and 15-year City Councilmember and 30-year Sacramento County Sheriff's Captain. On March 3, 2022, Cooper was stopped by TSA officers at the Sacramento airport for having a loaded gun in his purse. Petra is an American music group regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres and was, for many years, regarded as the "world's most popular Christian rock band". Formed in 1972, the band took its name from the Greek word for "rock". Though it disbanded formally in 2006, incarnations have played reunion shows in the years since and released two albums in November 2010, and in November 2017.
