''Jiggs and Maggie in Jackpot Jitters'' is a 1949 American comedy film directed by William Beaudine and starring Joe Yule, Renie Riano and George McManus. It was the third of four films in the '' Jiggs and Maggie'' film series, spun off from ''Bringing Up Father'' (1946).Drew p.170 The series follows the adventures of a family of Irish immigrants to the United States. William Beaudine
William Washington Beaudine (January 15, 1892 – March 18, 1970) was an American film director. He was one of Hollywood's most prolific directors, turning out a remarkable 179 feature-length films in a wide variety of genres. He is best known today for his silent films ''Little Annie Rooney (1925 film), Little Annie Rooney'' and ''Sparrows (1926 film), Sparrows'', both with Mary Pickford; the W. C. Fields comedy ''The Old Fashioned Way (1934 film), The Old Fashioned Way''; several Bela Lugosi and Charlie Chan thrillers; ''Mom and Dad (1945 film), Mom and Dad'', a sex-education exploitation film; and the popular The Bowery Boys, Bowery Boys comedies. Chester Conklin
Chester Cooper Conklin (January 11, 1886 – October 11, 1971) was an early American film comedian who started at Keystone Studios as one of Mack Sennett's Keystone Cops, often paired with Mack Swain. He appeared in a series of films with Mabel Normand and worked closely with Charlie Chaplin, both in silent and sound films. Early life Conklin was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa. One of three children, he grew up in a violent household. When he was eight, his mother was found burned to death in the family garden. Although first judged a suicide, his father, a devoutly religious man who hoped his son would be a minister, was eventually charged with murder, but found not guilty at trial.
