Jemma Freeman
Jemma Freeman is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist based in London, UK, active since the early 2000s. They are known principally for solo project Jemma Freeman and the Cosmic Something, which has released two albums and received media coverage on sites including Loud and Quiet, Louder Than War and God Is in the TV. Career Early years After performing and releasing an EP with the Fucks in the early 2000s, Freeman joined Lulu and the Lampshades, who released their first single, “Feet To The Sky”, in 2009. Following a name change to Landshapes the band produced several albums for Bella Union from 2013. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Furniture (band)
Furniture were a British new wave band, active from 1979 to 1991. The band's 1986 single, " Brilliant Mind", reached the UK top 30. The longest-serving line-up of Furniture (from 1983 to 1990), comprised founder members Jim Irvin (vocals), singer/multi-instrumentalist Tim Whelan and drummer Hamilton Lee, plus bass player/occasional singer Sally Still and keyboard player Maya Gilder. Larry N’Azone (saxophone) was an occasional member during this period and often appeared with the band live. Furniture's chief success was in the UK but they also enjoyed a following throughout Eastern Europe where they toured in 1987 and 1988. Angular Recording Corporation
Angular Recording Corporation was an independent record label founded in New Cross, South East London. It was established in June 2003 by two ex-Goldsmiths College students, Joe Daniel and Joe Margetts, who reclaimed a local Ordnance Survey Triangulation Station and made it their first artefact: ARC 001. The label's founders were influenced by a love of angular pop music and the Manchester label Factory Records. Gaining funding through medical testing, Angular Recording Corporation was able to finance its debut release in November 2003, the ''NME''-championed ''The New Cross : An Angular Sampler'', making it the lead review in the magazine. Transglobal Underground (sometimes written as Trans-Global Underground) is an English electro-world music group, specializing in a fusion of Western culture#Music, western, Music of Asia, Asian and Music of Africa, African music styles (sometimes labelled world fusion music, world fusion and ethno techno). Hamilton Lee
Hamilton Lee (born 7 September 1958 in London, England), also known by variations on Hamid Mantu, is an English musician. Lee is best known as the drummer, percussionist and co-leader of Transglobal Underground, under his "Hamid Mantu" alias. He was also a core member of Furniture and has played with Natacha Atlas, The Transmitters, Lunar Dunes, Solus 3, Ghost Shirt, Xangbetos and the Flavel Bambi Septet as well as various session appearances.
