Jeff Allen (offensive Guard)
Jeff Allen (born January 8, 1990) is an American former professional football player who was a guard in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini. Allen was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft. He also played for the Houston Texans. College career After graduating from Chicago's King High School, Allen attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign from 2008 to 2011. He started 47 games at both left and right tackle during his career. Professional career Pre-draft Projected as a second round selection by ''Sports Illustrated'', Allen was ranked as the No. 6 offensive guard available in the 2012 NFL draft. In American football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is an Lineman (gridiron football), offensive line player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles. Like other offensive line positions, guards are used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side.
