Jeevitham (1973 Film)
''Jeevitham'' () is a 1950 Indian Telugu-language social guidance film produced by A. V. Meiyappan with his company AVM Productions and directed by M. V. Raman. The film stars Vyjayanthimala in her Telugu cinema debut with S. Varalakshmi, T. R. Ramachandran, and C. H. Narayana Rao forming an ensemble cast, with many actors appearing in other significant roles. Actresses Lalitha and Padmini made guest appearances as stage dancers. The film was a remake of the 1949 Tamil film '' Vazhkai'', which was also produced and directed by A.V. Meiyappan with Vyjayanthimala in the lead. Following the success of ''Vazhkai'' and ''Jeevitham'', it was remade in Hindi a year later by A. V. Meiyappan as ''Bahar'', however, the Hindi version was directed by M. V. Vyjayanthimala
Vyjayanthimala (born 13 August 1936) is a former Indian actress, dancer and parliamentarian. She is the recipient of several accolades, including two BFJA Awards and five Filmfare Awards. She made her screen debut at the age of thirteen with the Tamil film '' Vaazhkai'' (1949), and followed this with a role in the Telugu film '' Jeevitham'' (1950). Her first work in Hindi cinema was the social guidance film ''Bahar'' (1951), which she headlined, and achieved her breakthrough with the romantic film '' Nagin'' (1954). She is currently 86 years old. She garnered a lot of critical acclaim for her role in the period drama film '' Devdas'' (1955), where she played Chandramukhi, the Tawaif with a heart of gold. The film and her acting was praised, later considered to be her magnum opus.
