Jean Robertson (also known as Jean Bromley; 27 September 1913 – 23 August 1990 Birmingham) was a British scholar of English Renaissance literature. She won the British Academy's Rose Mary Crawshay Prize in 1974. Life Jean Robertson was born in 1913 to Ainslie Robertson and Phyllis Mary Raeghton. Jean Robertson (16 February 1893 – 24 August 1967) was an Australian stage and screen actress. Biography Robertson was born on 16 February 1893 and grew up in Adelaide, South Australia. She performed with the Adelaide Repertory Theatre, before moving to Melbourne in 1914 to begin her professional career with the Julius Knight Company. She also appeared with the George Willoughby Co. and J. C. Williamson Ltd. Her first screen role was as the angel in George Willoughby's first film, '' The Joan of Arc of Loos'' and followed up as Margaret Rolfe in the 1916 Australian silent film, '' The Woman in the Case''. In 1917, she moved to America, where she starred as a Babylonian siren in ''The Wanderer'' on the New York stage the following year. She played the dope fiend in ''The Unknown Woman'', with Lumsden Hare as her husband in New York in 1919. Jean Robertson Burnet (1920 – September 14, 2009) was a Canadian academic specializing in ethnic studies. Burnet, a specialist in Canadian ethnic relations, founded the Glendon Sociology Department at York University. Burnet was a native of Toronto and studied for her undergraduate degree in Sociology at Victoria College, Toronto, including under Harold Innis. Jean McKenzie
Jean Robertson McKenzie, (19 January 1901 – 1 or 2 July 1964), was a New Zealand diplomat. She was the first woman to head a New Zealand diplomatic post. Biography Born in Edendale, Southland, and originally named Jane, McKenzie attended Edendale School and Southland Technical College. She worked for a time as a secretary and administrator for the Post Office in Invercargill, and later for the Public Works Department. She was eventually transferred to Wellington, and when the Prime Minister's Department was founded in 1926, she took up a position with the nascent New Zealand diplomatic service. Initially, McKenzie was secretary to Carl Berendsen, head of the Imperial Affairs Section. Jean Forbes-Robertson (16 March 1905 – 24 December 1962) was an English actress. A versatile Shakespearean actress, she was often cast in boys' roles because of her slim build, playing Jim Hawkins in a stage version of ''Treasure Island'', Puck in ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' and, most famously, the title role in ''Peter Pan''. After beginning her career in 1921 on tour in South Africa and Australasia with her mother's theatre company, she made her London debut in 1925, gaining wide notice by 1927. She played mostly in Shakespeare works and other classic plays, and was often employed by the actor-director Robert Atkins. She also wrote four novels under the name of her principal heroine Janet Sandison, and some children's books.
