The Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde ( pt, Universidade Jean Piaget de Cabo Verde) is a private university in Cape Verde. The university is named after the famous Swiss child psychologist and philosopher Jean Piaget. The university was established on 7 May 2001, and now has about 2,000 students and 380 academic staff. The main campus is in the capital city Praia ( Palmarejo subdivision) on the island of Santiago, with a smaller second location in Mindelo on the island of São Vicente, opened in 2005. Jean Piaget University offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as continuing education courses. The University of Cape Verde ( pt, Universidade de Cabo Verde, abbreviated "Uni-CVV") is the only public university of Cape Verde. The main campus is in Palmarejo, Praia, but there are also institutes in Mindelo, Assomada and São Jorge dos Órgãos. It has over 5000 students. Janira Isabel Fonseca Hopffer Almada (born 27 September 1978) is a lawyer and politician from Cape Verde who served as the president of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) from 2014 to 2021. Early life and education Almada was born on 27 September 1978 in Praia, Santiago Island. Her father is a lawyer and PAICV Minister of Justice David Hopffer Almada. José Ulisses de Pina Correia e Silva () (born 4 June 1962) is a Cape Verdean businessman and politician who has been Prime Minister of Cape Verde since 22 April 2016. He took office after his party, the Movement for Democracy, won the 20 March 2016 parliamentary election.
