Jay Scott (saxophonist)
Jay Carrington Scott (1953–2009) was a saxophone player whose solos were featured on many gold and platinum records of the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was born on March 13, 1952, in Durham, North Carolina, and in 1958, the family moved to East Point, Georgia, where his father worked a government job and moonlighted as an upright bass player. Scott's father honed in on Scott’s innate musical talent and ended up buying him a Music Minus One program for the saxophone. At nine years of age, Scott started playing saxophone. Early life Scott's family relocated to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands for work and he continued to seep in the music and culture of the Caribbean. His Anglican private school – All Saints – did not offer a full band for students. James Dewitt Yancey (February 7, 1974 – February 10, 2006), better known by the stage names J Dilla and Jay Dee, was an American record producer, composer and rapper. He emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip hop scene in Detroit, Michigan, as a member of the group Slum Village. He was also a member of the Soulquarians, a musical collective active during the late 1990s and early 2000s. He additionally collaborated with Madlib as Jaylib, releasing the album ''Champion Sound''. Yancey's final album was ''Donuts'', which was released three days before his death. He was also known for producing The Pharcyde album ''Labcabincalifornia''. Yancey died at the age of 32 from a combination of TTP and lupus. Kingsland Road (band)
Kingsland Road (originally Kingsland) were an English rock and roll-style and urban-inspired funk and disco boy band formed in 2012. The band is made up of Matt Cahill, Joe "Connor" Conaboy, JJ Thompson (known by his surname) and Josh Zaré. Originally a five-piece that included Jay Scott, they were the fourth contestant eliminated on the tenth series of ''The X Factor'' in 2013. Kingsland Road released their debut single " Dirty Dancer" in August 2014 and it peaked at number 85 on the UK Singles Chart. On 23 October, Scott quit the band due to lack of enjoyment. Their debut album ''We Are the Young'' was released in March 2015. The group announced they were splitting up in June 2015. In 2019, they announced a reunion show on 21 December 2019.
